Meet Bill Putnam, Bridge Supervisor for Fairfield County Engineer's Office

As a bridge supervisor, Bill plays a key role in maintaining and improving the county's infrastructure. In this position, he oversees a crew responsible for installing bridge beams and decks, preparing structures for paving, installing culvert systems, and preparing roadbeds for pavement placement.


Bill enjoys the opportunity to teach and mentor fellow county employees. From guiding bridge installations to setting proper grades for culvert placement, helping others learn and grow on the job is a rewarding part of his daily work.


For those interested in a similar career path, Bill's advice centers on leadership and learning from others. Bill credits military service for teaching him how to lead people, value hard work, and stay dedicated to a team. "I encourage aspiring professionals to seek out experienced mentors and learn as much as possible from those around you," said Bill.

Meet Jessica Boster, Member of the Board of Developmental Disabilities

The Fairfield County Board of Developmental Disabilities is made up of seven board members and a superintendent who work together to support individuals with developmental disabilities throughout the county. Guided by a vision of recognizing the value of every person, the Board meets monthly and leads with a focus on fiscal responsibility, collaboration, and innovation.


The Board's direct impact on individuals and families inspired Jessica to serve. With both professional experience working with children with disabilities and a personal connection as a parent, Jessica is committed to strengthening services and expanding opportunities for those served.


"Many people don’t realize how much happens behind the scenes. From early intervention to adult services, employment support, and advocacy, our Board and leadership team play a critical role in coordinating resources and ensuring support is accessible, effective, and accountable. Our Board supports individuals with developmental disabilities at every stage of life, helping them access services, build independence, and fully participate in the community," said Jessica.
