Looking Ahead in 2018
Can you believe we spring forward this week (despite the current winter weather)? As we prepare for the Arts Crawl and to usher in warmer weather, we'd like to share some of Fairmount CDC's priorities heading into 2018. I also wanted to thank the Farimount Civic Association for allowing us to provide a similar update at their February meeting.

In addition to supporting our small businesses, providing daily street sweeping along West Girard Avenue and hosting exciting community events, we are excited to announce plans for new physical improvement projects to ensure our built environment reflects the pride we all share for our community. Some of these projects include...

The lighting of the 29th Street pedestrian bridge, connecting the neighborhood to the park. The lighting will include both functional and decorative lighting to improve safety and highlight its historical significance. We are also working with the police department to add a security camera, and with streets department to realize other improvements to the bridge (fresh paint, improved concrete).

Pilot projects of Fairmount Avenue Forward, to test concepts and garner further feedback on enhancements along the Fairmount Avenue corridor. In January, Fairmount CDC release conceptual designs of Fairmount Avenue Forward to generate excitement and creative thinking on how to improve the pedestrian experience along Fairmount Avenue. To view the concepts, click here.

A new vision for the Broad - Ridge - Fairmount triangle, in partnership with the Francisville NDC and North Broad Renaissance. Working collaboratively, we will work with the many stakeholders of this triangular plaza / intersection to realize an enhanced gateway to all three corridors: Broad, Ridge and Fairmount.

To support all of these activities, Fairmount CDC will be launching our first ever capital campaign in the coming weeks. This will mark an exciting new step for the organization as we look towards strategic capital investments to enhance our neighborhood, its businesses, and its connection to Fairmount Park. Stay tuned to learn about how you can be part of these changes, and be sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for updates between the newsletters!
