Students Embrace Learning on 'Cold Days' with S.T.E.A.M. activities, reading, and more
Two days out of school on account of the cold weather doesn't mean the learning stops. It simply means Fairview Park students embrace the goal to Learn Differently.

Using a variety of communication and collaboration tools combined with encouragement from their teachers, students took on challenges ranging from S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) to reading to completing assignments in their online platforms.

Fairview Park City Schools Selected as an "Innovative District" by the International Center for Leadership in Education
The Fairview Park City School District has been selected as an Innovative District by the International Center for Leadership in Education (ICLE).

As a part of the recognition, Innovative Districts and Model Schools are invited to be guest speakers at ICLE's 27th Annual Model Schools conference.

Superintendent Bill Wagner will present on the topic of "Making Transformative Change a Reality" in front of a national audience.

According to ICLE, Model Schools and Innovative Districts recognize the need for change, collectively establish a vision, and systematically work together to create a learning environment that enables students of all abilities to thrive. They focus on leveraging individual data to make instructional decisions and personalize instruction; balance rigor and relevance in interdisciplinary learning; and create equity, access and opportunities for all.

"Model Schools are schools that are experiencing rapid growth in student achievement; schools that are deliberately working to shift the culture to one of high expectations for ALL students; or schools that are working through challenges...and are beating the odds," says Dr. Bill Daggett, ICLE Founder.

The district submitted a detailed application, along with this video, highlighting how the Fairview Park City School District aligns with the unique criteria ICLE seeks in each Model School/Innovative District, including: Credible Supporting Data; Passion; Student Focus; Future Forward; Supportive Culture; Communication, PR and Branding; All Means ALL - Rigor, Relevance, and Relationships for ALL students; and Diversity.

Selection as an ICLE Innovative District is a unique honor.  Last year (2018), only 11 districts earned this distinction and received resulting recognition at the national Model Schools Conference.
