Internet Safety Presentation by FBI Citizens Academy to be held March 4
Families and community members are encouraged to attend a "Parent University" informational presentation on social media and internet safety on Monday, March 4 at 6:30 p.m. at Gilles-Sweet Elementary (4320 W. 220th St.).

Randy Kimbro, a member of the FBI Citizens Academy, will be the presenter.

Topics covered will include how social media posts can effect future jobs, inappropriate searches and their effects, Apps to avoid, how the "bad guys" operate, and other important issues faced by internet users of all ages.

Come learn important information about how you can keep your children (and yourself) safe online.

Students are welcome to attend if parents feel it appropriate. Babysitting will be available for young children.

Kindergarten Registration
Families of children who will be 5 year-old by August 1, 2019 should pre-register online before March 14, and then plan to attend Kindergarten Registration Day on March 14 at the Parkview Early Education Center at 21620 Mastick Rd. from either 9 a.m. to noon or 4-7 p.m. No appointment necessary.

Students and Teachers Celebrate Digital Learning Day
Digital learning is any instructional practice that effectively uses technology to strengthen a student's learning experience. It emphasizes high-quality instruction and provides access to challenging content, feedback through formative assessment, opportunities for learning anytime and anywhere, and individualized instruction to ensure all students reach their full potential to succeed in college and a career.

The Alliance for Excellent Education celebrated "Digital Learning Day" on February 28. Teachers shared many different and dynamic project-based learning happenings in their classrooms via Twitter. Search the hashtag #DLDay for Tweets around the country! 
Vote for Kori as the Artsonia Artist of the Week!
PLEASE VOTE! Kori from Gilles-Sweet Elementary School has been selected as a finalist for this week's "Artist of the Week" award for the 4th-6th age group on Artsonia.

The finalist who receives the most online votes by Saturday, March 2 will be selected as the "Artist of the Week" and will be featured on the Artsonia homepage and will receive a commemorative plaque. In addition, Blick Art Materials has generously donated $100 gift certificates to the winning schools an d $50 to the winning artists.
