Watching and Waiting
Dear Friends,
We arrived home from Thanksgiving and got all of our Christmas decorations down. Over the course of the next few days we began to “deck the halls” with lights, crèches, snowmen, Christmas bears, nutcrackers, etc. We had to make a date on the calendar to go get a Christmas tree since everyone’s schedules are so nutty. But we did get the tree and we did decorate it together and we listened to Christmas music. Next to our tree is a snowman chalkboard. One of our children has written “25 days until Christmas” on it. We’ll see if the countdown continues.
Prominently placed on our coffee table is our Advent wreath and candles. We will light candles and pray and sing and watch and wait. We are waiting for Christmas and we are also waiting for Christ to be more clearly revealed in our hearts and homes, our communities and world. In these sometimes ever darkening days, we are called to let the light of our candles and our lives shine ever more brightly so that we might be the conduit that ushers good news, love, and hope into anxious, weary, and confused lives.
As you gather with loved ones this season, be still and listen for the angel’s song. Be still and watch for God breaking into the world. Be still, give thanks, and speak words of hope to one another as we wait for God’s vision to be realized for the church and for the world.

 To God be the Glory!
Robert
P.S. We are trying to do some exciting things in 2018 and that takes money! The good news is that more than 250 family units have pledged over $1.1 MILLION to the ministry of DCPC in 2018. The bad news is that only represents about 42% of our families. IF YOU HAVE NOT YET SUBMITTED YOUR PLEDGE WOULD YOU DO SO TODAY?? We can reach our goal but everyone on the TEAM has to do their part! Please help our DCPC TEAM succeed! If you have not made your financial pledge – would you please do it today?? CLICK HERE to make your pledge online!
