Letter from Robert
A Giving Spirit
Dear Friends,
Many of you know about the organization in our community known as “A Giving Spirit Foundation.” This organization, birthed from the vision of the late Laura Woodall, has inspired many to give generously to help support those in the community who have received devastating news about illness and disease and need emotional and financial help along their difficult journey. You can read more about this at www.agivingspiritfoundation.org .
The vision, the work, and the name of the organization are spot on! As we think about this Christmas season and all it means, we are compelled to think beyond ourselves and to give to others. While we are often encouraged to think about what we want (under the tree, in our stockings, in our “shopping carts”) the true Spirit of Christmas is a GIVING one – not a GETTING one! The sooner we can help teach this to our children the sooner they will begin to appreciate the gift of God’s self –Emmanuel – God with us – in the baby named Jesus who was born to Mary and Joseph in the little town of Bethlehem so many years ago.
Yesterday I had the privilege of delivering a bus load of gifts from many of you to help the survivors of domestic violence who are served by Safe Alliance .  This was the focus of our Angel Tree this year. The 250 families who will benefit from these gifts will know that the folks of DCPC have A Giving Spirit! Thanks for all the ways that you give of yourself to help transform the world! Keep up the good work and know that the God of all Creation – the one who is the giver of all good gifts – is with us and will not let us go.

 To God be the Glory!
Robert
