Some thoughts on today's scripture

  • What spirit drives me in the things I do? Is my heart a home for the Spirit? Could the Holy Spirit be inviting me to take more quiet space? In the bible, the ‘wilderness’ is a place of revelation and of intimacy with God. I need to put secondary things aside to meet God. God is found in emptiness as well as in fullness. I can find him in the emptiness of sickness and old age and disappointment and failure and solitude.

As Lent begins I might promise God that I will be faithful to the quiet space and time that Sacred Space offers me. I want the kingdom of God to come near me. I want to believe more deeply in the good news.

Tonight is some intro thoughts and then taking about "Conversation with God," and "Rote Prayers," like the rosary, and praying a part of the Rosary. Your ways, O Lord, are love and truth to those who keep your covenant.

“This is the sign that I am giving for all ages to come,

of the covenant between me and you

and every living creature with you:

I set my bow in the clouds to serve as a sign

of the covenant between me and the earth.

One does not live on bread alone,

but on every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.
