Voices We're Listening To

Who Is It

Natalia Terfa is a Lutheran pastor and one of the hosts of the Cafeteria Christian Podcast, which explores a variety of topics relevant to current events and questions of faith. She also sends a Friday Uplift email that offers something other than harmful theology and trite cliches during difficult times.

Why I Recommend Her

I've listened to this podcast for years and appreciate her perspective. I also really love her Uplift emails. The devotions aren't too long or involved and usually hit right on messages that I need to hear.

-Delaney Rhea,

Director of Youth and Family Ministry

Books We're Reading

What It's About

A compassionate, healthy, and holistic perspective on embodied living. Weaving together illuminating research, stories from her work as a therapist, and deeply personal narratives of healing from a life-threatening eating disorder, a near-fatal car accident, and chronic pain, McBride invites us to reclaim the wisdom of the body and to experience the wholeness that has been there all along.

Why I Recommend It

While this book isn't explicitly about faith, I do think the Church, generally speaking, has long told people that souls are what matter most, and not bodies. This book does a wonderful job of reminding us that God has gifted us with bodies for a reason, and those bodies deserve to be heard and loved, including as part of our faith journey.
