Holy Week Edition
Holy Week is the most sacred time on our Church calendar where we commemorate the death and resurrection of Our Lord Jesus, the central mystery of our faith. For the first time in memory the faithful will not be able to celebrate these holy days in their churches. That is why we would like to provide you with some simple and practical ways to live out Holy Week in a memorable and spiritually enriching way. Below you will find step-by-step guides on how to carry out simple Holy Week activities as a family. Please feel free to share with members of your parishes and communities.
Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday is the final Sunday of Lent, the beginning of Holy Week and commemorates the triumphant arrival of Christ in Jerusalem, days before he was crucified.

Holy Thursday
Holy Thursday commemorates the institution of Holy Mass and priesthood by Jesus at the Last Supper. Jesus famously washed the apostle’s feet, celebrated the first mass during the Passover and then prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane.

Good Friday
We remember the unconditional love of Jesus on Good Friday when we share in the Celebration of the Lord's Passion.

Holy Saturday
Holy Saturday marks the end of Lent. It is traditionally a Day of Silence and reflection. We commemorate Jesus body in the tomb and his descent among the dead. The day ends with the Easter Vigil, the most solemn liturgy of the Church calendar.

Easter Sunday
He is alive! He is risen from the dead! Go and tell the others! All are words of faith, hope and love and the joy of the resurrection and Easter.

From the Exsultet: The Proclamation of Easter
E xult, let them exult, the hosts of heaven,
exult, let Angel ministers of God exult,
let the trumpet of salvation
sound aloud our mighty King's triumph!

Be glad, let earth be glad, as glory floods her,
ablaze with light from her eternal King,
let all corners of the earth be glad,
knowing an end to gloom and darkness.

Rejoice, let Mother Church also rejoice,
arrayed with the lightning of his glory,
let this holy building shake with joy,
filled with the mighty voices of the peoples...
Blessings and prayers for you...
The staff of the Office of Evangelization and Discipleship wish to rejoice with you this Easter. Many blessings and prayers are with you during these holiest days of the year.
