Dear UU Westport,

April 7th is Bring-A-Friend Sunday. It’s a day to share our UU Community with our non-UU friends. For me, Bring-A-Friend Sunday is like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. UU Westport is the peanut butter- sticky, satisfying, and a little nutty.

My non-UU friends are sweet, like jelly. I bet yours are, too. They are tangy and fruity. They come in different flavors like grape, strawberry or apricot.

Both peanut butter and jelly are tasty on their own. However, when you mix peanut butter with jelly, you get a whole new taste and texture that is both tangy and satisfying. When you mix UU Westport with your non-UU friends, you will get a whole new experience that is both a little nutty and a little sweet.

The bread in this analogy is the service. Rev. Alan, Rev. Ed, Lexi, Nick, Dayle Brownstein, the children and youth, and I are preparing a service that will hold UU Westport and our non-UU friends together. We will have music sung by the Teen Choir and Children’s Chapel Choir. We will have a play called The Cracked Pot performed by our K - 6th graders. Children will usher. Youth will lead the meditation. Finally, Rev. Alan will tie it all together with a sermon on Blessed Imperfections, which will be like a glass of milk to wash down your PB&J.

I hope this description inspires you to bring your friends on April 7th.

Your Faith Formation Director,

Angi Haen
