Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you. When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart, I will let you find me" (Jeremiah 29:11-14).

During these long winter months the kids can get very stir-crazy so indoor play space is precious! There are No age restrictions for children, but due to school day gathering it is recommended for kids 5 and under. Please follow us on Facebook for weekly updates (or weather related cancellations).
He wanted to reunite Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox Christians, and became a Capuchin friar as a step toward that desire. But Leopold Mandić’s health issues and mild personality led him down a different path: forty-eight years of hearing confessions and giving lenient penances. Among those he counseled was a young seminarian who became Pope Saint John Paul I.

St. Leopold, help me to embrace God’s plan,
especially when it seems smaller than my dreams and ambitions.

Gentle Blessings
Gentle Blessings is a small, acappella group of singers who sing at the bedside of folks in need of comfort and a gentle presence through song.
We come to the bedside at the invitation of the family and the nursing facility. We are all parishioners of Mary, Queen of Martyrs Parish (St. Peter, St. Kateri, Our Lady of Lourdes) in Plymouth/Carver.
Our songs are repetitive and soothing with harmony. We prepare music that is both religious and non-religious. Families request which music is preferred. We come into the room for a 10-minute visit and quietly exit after our songs.
Our group is not entertainment. We offer a gentle presence at the bedside of the sick and the dying.
How Does It Work?
·We visit in groups of 3 or 4 singers at a pre-arranged time.
·We typically sing for 10 minutes.
·We offer our singing as gentle blessing, not as entertainment.
·You do not need to clean for us or feed us and we ask nothing in return.
·We invite families and caregivers to join us in song or to participate by listening.

We all feel this way sometimes, but today’s reflection will inspire you to shine your light in the darkness.
Watch now–Matthew shares some thought-provoking questions that will help you reflect on your life and challenge you to spread your goodness in the world!

DIAPER PANTRY
The demand for diapers continues to increase but so too does your generosity with diaper and monetary donations! Thanks to your support we are able to continue to keep area babies in need clean and dry. Babies average about 7 changes per day; in the first year, a baby will require approximately 2,500 diapers, and many families have more than one child in diapers at once.
Diaper donationscan be dropped off at the entrances of our three churches before or after Mass, during regular Diaper Pantry hours at St. Kateri, or at the church offices during open hours (St. Kateri: Monday and Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.; Our Lady of Lourdes: Tuesday and Friday 8:30 – 12:30 p.m.; St. Peter: Monday through Friday 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) For questions contact Jeanne at 508 – 591- 3510 or [email protected]
Note: Our latest Diaper Pantry Update and Report to Parishioners is now available! To view the report, please click below, visit our parish website, see the parish newsletter, or pick up a hard copy at our church entrances.
FEBRUARY 8: CATHOLIC DAY OF PRAYER AND AWARENESS AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING
February 8th is the feast day of St. Josephine Bakhita, who was kidnapped as a child and sold into slavery in Sudan and Italy. Once Josephine was freed, she became a Canossian nun and dedicated her life to sharing her testament of deliverance from slavery and comforting the poor and suffering. She was declared a Saint in 2000. On February 8, Catholics all over the world are encouraged to host or attend prayer services to create greater awareness about this phenomenon of dehumanizing exploitation. Through prayer, we not only reflect on the experiences of those that have suffered through this affront to human dignity, but also comfort, strengthen, and help empower survivors.
Human trafficking, also known as trafficking in persons (TIP), is a modern-day form of slavery. It is a crime under state, federal and international law. It is currently the second largest type of criminal activity, exceeded only by the illegal drug trade. This crime occurs when a trafficker uses force, fraud or coercion to control another person for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex acts or soliciting labor or services against his/her will.
Is Human Trafficking a problem in the U.S.?
The National Human Trafficking Hotline reports that “There is no official estimate of the total number of human trafficking victims in the U.S. With 100,000 children estimated to be in the sex trade in the United States each year, it is clear that the total number of victims nationally reaches into the hundreds of thousands.”
WHAT CAN I DO TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING?
Educate yourself! Understand the signs of human trafficking, become a responsible consumer, and learn what our local community is doing to fight the problem. Our parish will be offering opportunities to learn more, so that we can all work together to combat this grave threat to human freedom and dignity. Please watch for more information and details, coming soon.
DID YOU KNOW…
The World Health Organization reports 844 million people don't have access to safe water. About 2.3 billion people are living without access to improved sanitation. That means 1 in 9 people on the planet don't have clean water close to home. One in 3 don't have a decent toilet. As Pope Francis noted at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences in February 2018, “The right to water is essential for the survival of persons and decisive for the future of humanity.”

Our parish is distributing the Little Black Books for Lent 2023.
Please take a copy with you as you leave Mass.
This Little Black Book is your companion for Lent. It’s an old-fashioned “vade mecum” (pronounced vahday maykum), which is Latin for “travel with me” and was used to describe a book that was a constant companion – perhaps a condensed book of prayers for traveling priests, or a handbook for quick reference – something you could take with you anywhere. The Little Black Book travels easily in your pocket, bag, or glove compartment.
The goal is to find six minutes of quiet time every day for the next 50 days to walk through this book a page at a time. The key is the right-hand page which will walk through some of the parables of Jesus, with explanations and reflections along the way. It's an ancient way of praying the scriptures called Lectio Divina. God speaks to us ‘live’ through the sacred word and we’re often surprised at the thoughts that come.
The left-hand page has a variety of quotes, information, and timely thoughts. Treat it like a buffet table from which you can take what you like. If pressed for time, go directly to the right-hand page, and spend your time there.

Liturgy of the Hours for Lent 2023
Many voices, One Church, One prayer!
Word on Fire
Mary, Queen of Martyrs Parish will be praying the Divine Office: Evening Prayer/Vespers on Tuesday evenings at 7PM during Lent 2023.
ALL are invited to come to pray this beautiful prayer of the Church.
The Liturgy of the Hours is an ancient, structured way of praying Scripture throughout the day, focusing especially on the Psalms. It hearkens back to the Jewish custom of praying at fixed hours, a practice early Christians continued. By the medieval period, monks chanted the entire Psalter, all 150 Psalms, throughout each week, and sometimes in a single day!
Eventually, this form of prayer became known as the Liturgy of the Hours, also called the Divine Office. It is a liturgy because, like the Mass and other sacraments, it is a public prayer of the Church, Christ’s Mystical Body, as distinct from private devotions such as the Rosary, novenas, or personal prayer.
Its purpose is to sanctify the day and the whole range of human activity. It does this by bathing the morning, afternoon, and evening in prayer, so that “the whole course of the day and night is made holy by the praises of God.” (Bishop Robert Barron, Word on Fire)
The Family Life Team at the Archdiocese of Bostoninvites all who are impacted by divorce or separation to a half-day retreat, featuring an opening talk byMother Olga, founder of the Daughters of Mary of Nazareth; a lay witness talk by Irina Robinson, Family & Respect Life director of the Diocese of Fall River and music byLiz Cotrupi Pfunder.
