They live this motto by extensive traveling and also hosting other people here in Sarasota. This group provides a great way to meet people to share stories, cultures and experiences. This is a fictionalized story of Charles B. Fisk and his wife Brenda. Fisk was involved in developing the Manhattan Project and he and his wife question the use of the atomic war after the war and the implications of nuclear power.

Monday, November 30th. The Calamity Club by Kathryn Stockett.

We began our campaign by asking you for your treasures, then we asked for your time and now we would like to know about your talents.
There is a link to the survey below. The survey will ask about your talents and your willingness to volunteer.
Our goal is to create a data base that we can use if the need for a special talent arises.
Thank you for your participation in all aspects of our stewardship campaign this year. It is very gratifying to experience how much we are all focused on God’s work.

August 28 The Lutheran Campus Ministry Network (LuMin) serves over 175 colleges and universities through ELCA and ecumenical campus ministry organizations, including congregations near campuses. Pray that students, faculty and staff are blessed by the work of LuMin, which builds
August 29 “When schools flourish, all flourishes” (Martin Luther, Table Talk). The Lutheran church has a long, rich history of commitment to faith-based and public education. Pray that we support and encourage education for all ages, abilities and backgrounds for the sake of nurturing students to become confident, skilled, wise, creative, compassionate and service-minded citizens and disciples of Christ.
August 30 “Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another; do not be arrogant, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are” (Romans 12:14-16). Paul seems to have written this for us today. Ask God to help us live by these words, which denounce vengeance, arrogance, indifference to neighbors and divisive conflict. Encourage us to be humble, forgiving, empathetic and to love our adversaries and those who are different from us.
August 31 Gift thanks for new members of our congregations. Pray that they experience belonging, growth, encouragement and opportunities to use their gifts together with those of siblings in Christ to do God’s work in the church, their communities and the world.
September 1 National Suicide Prevention Month Suicide impacts people of all ages, especially youth and young adults. Pray for hope, relief from suffering and skilled, compassionate care for people who struggle with loneliness, depression and mental illness. Pray that they will find comfort and encouragement in knowing that God abandons no one. Ask God to bless and further the work of Lutheran Suicide Prevention Ministry and other organizations engaged in suicide awareness, education, collaboration and advocacy.
September 2 Pray that we will remember and affirm the diverse contributions of those who have helped shape and reform our nation throughout its history, especially as we celebrate its semiquincentennial. Ask the Spirit to help us learn from and change the laws, decisions and attitudes that oppress our neighbors, our siblings in Christ and all children of God.
September 3 Remember in prayer children whose families lack safe, consistent shelter, that they will find care, stability and security in school among their peers, teachers and school staff.
