Support for Cuba: A Mission of Compassion and Hope

As many of you know, the people of Cuba continue to face severe economic hardship, widespread shortages, and limited access to basic necessities. Families are struggling to obtain essential items that many of us take for granted, including medications, hygiene products, and everyday household supplies.

In response to this ongoing crisis, Jeny Calderon is once again leading our congregation's effort to provide much-needed assistance to our brothers and sisters in Cuba. Through her dedication and connections, we have an opportunity to send supplies directly to those who need them most.

We are currently collecting both financial donations and essential items. Monetary gifts are especially important, as the cost of shipping these supplies can exceed $1,500. Every dollar helps ensure that these much-needed items reach their destination.

Please prayerfully consider supporting this mission. Your generosity can provide comfort, dignity, and hope to families facing incredibly difficult circumstances.

At the Florida-Bahamas Synod Assembly in Orlando, Pastor Larry was honored and recognized for an extraordinary milestone—60 years of ordained ministry. For six decades, he has faithfully served God's people with dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the Gospel.

We give thanks for his many years of ministry, leadership, and faithful witness, and we celebrate this remarkable achievement with gratitude and joy.

Mary Circle Wraps Up a Busy Year

Mary Circle would like to thank everyone in the congregation for your generous support throughout the year through donations for Lutheran World Relief (LWR), Lutheran Services Florida (LSF), and other outreach ministries.

With your help, we assembled 81 Personal Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief this past Sunday! Thank you for helping us make a difference in the lives of those in need.

Before long, we will be collecting school supplies, so please watch for upcoming announcements.

It has been a busy and rewarding year for Mary Circle. We will be taking a break during June and July for some well-deserved rest and renewal. We look forward to returning in August as we begin our 2026–2027 year of activities.

We're Bigger than Bingo!

Join us this Tuesday

Our newest Worship To Go location at Sarasota Pointe is off to a wonderful start! Attendance has been so strong that residents recently remarked that our worship service is now "bigger than bingo"—high praise in any senior community!

We give thanks for the opportunity to share God's Word, prayer, music, and fellowship with the residents of Sarasota Pointe. Thank you to everyone who helps make this ministry possible as we continue bringing worship beyond our church walls and into the community.

Our next Worship To Go service will be Tuesday, June 23 @10:30 am at the Barclay. If you would like to join us, you can meet us there, or to carpool, meet at the church office at 10:00 a.m. Come share worship and fellowship with our neighbors!

Faith’s Book Club has embarked on a busy season of reading! Please look over our selections through the summer and join us for some lively discussions at 2:00 PM in the conference room at church.

How to Read a Book by Monica Wood

This book follows the meeting of three people in a bookstore in Portland, Maine. The reader sees the interactions between Viola, a 26-year-old newly released from prison; Harriet, who runs the prison book club; and Frank, the husband of the woman Viola killed while driving drunk. The story shows how powerful the messages in books can be.

JULY 27

How to Age Disgracefully by Clare Pooley

Follow Lydia, the newly appointed director of the local senior center, as she deals with the idiosyncrasies of its members. The group joins forces with the daycare center in the same building to prevent their closure. A hilarious and heartwarming story!

AUGUST 31

Theo of Golden by Allen Levi

This book shows how people connect through kindness and wonder. Theo arrives in the town of Golden and is immediately intrigued by portraits of residents hanging in a local restaurant. As he interviews each individual, wonderful personal stories unfold.

ELCA Prayer Ventures

6/19 (Juneteenth) Pray for people of faith working for racial justice and equality. Give thanks for the multi-generational struggles that have brought liberation, and ask God to grant us the grace to uproot racism and white supremacy in our communities.

6/20 (World Refugee Day): Pray for the millions of refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers worldwide. Give thanks for agencies, including Lutheran Disaster Response and AMMPARO, that provide protection, advocacy, and a safe welcome.

6/21 Pray for the congregations and synods across the country gathering for summer worship and ministry. Ask the Spirit to bless the leaders, voting members, and youth attending these assemblies and camps.

6/22 Pray for the ELCA Prison Reentry and Advocacy Network. Ask God to support congregations that welcome and journey alongside individuals navigating life after incarceration.

6/23 Reflect on the Apostle Paul’s words in Romans 8:24-25. Ask the Spirit to strengthen faith in God’s promises, and pray for patience and hope when waiting on God’s work in your life and the world.
