Faith Leaders, Theologians and Academicians Convene on the Ethics of AI
Yesterday evening, on the Lone Mountain Campus, the University of San Francisco (USF), the Archbishop of San Francisco, and the San Francisco Interfaith Council (SFIC) hosted a convening of San Francisco faith leaders, theologians and academicians on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence.
Using Pope Leo XIV’s powerful encyclical “Magnifica Humanitus”for context, the cohort engaged in an in depth discussion on the many dimensions and challenges posed by AI and the importance of religion’s perspective and prophetic voice in disarming the potentially harmful aspects of this rapidly developing and unchecked technology.
