Note from Mz. Lizzie
Dear Faith Family,
In the 15ish years I’ve been Faith’s Lunch Lady, I’ve served way more meals than I can count. Oh, I tried to guestimate and came close to 200,000, so a lot of food has passed through the kitchen serving door. Add in Touching Hearts and summer meals and... whew, no wonder I’m worn out.
But it’s a good worn out. I’ve accomplished so much during my time here, both with the school lunch program and personally. The National School Lunch Program has gone through several changes over the years and navigating those changes while still providing tasty and nutritious lunches was often a challenge. Besides creating meals I’ve visited classrooms and provided hand washing demonstrations, talked about lunches and healthy eating. And even about writing.
I’ll be focusing on my writing in this next phase of my life. I’ve still got a lot of stories to tell. And as I write those stories and turn them loose in the world, I’ll draw upon the love and encouragement that is a cornerstone of Faith Lutheran. I cherish every hug, each drawing, note, poem, and daily ‘thank yous’ because those encouraging memories keep me going.
To all the students, teachers, staff, kitchen helpers, church ladies, and parents—past, present, and future—Thank you. You have filled my heart and soul.
Hugs, love, and sparkles!
