UPDATE FROM PASTOR CHRIS

Thank you all for your grace during my absence. Although I am not yet firing on all cylinders, I am trying to be present in the office a few days a week (while working from home other days) and presiding at worship on Sundays. There are many tasks overflowing my plate having to do with the aftermath of Dave’s death, which will take time to muddle through, but I think turning my attention to church matters will be a help. So, do reach out to me with those church matters or pastoral care needs that you may have. Thank you all again for the many gestures of love and support you have shown me these past weeks. They were greatly appreciated by my whole family.

I look forward to our Congregational Conversation and brunch on March 2nd following worship when I can check in with you on how you’re feeling about your transition to becoming Faith Lutheran of Bristol. Several groups may also offer updates on their ministries, and I’ll set the stage for our next conversation when we’ll begin to explore our new “Why” as a congregation.

I also look forward to our first Ash Wednesday on March 5th at 7:00pm and our journey through Lent together.

Peace & Blessings!

Pr. Chris

The School of Lay Ministry is now accepting applications for fall enrollment!

Interested in learning more about the teachings and life of the Lutheran Church? Would you like to gain new skills for serving your congregation? Consider enrolling in the New England Synod’s School of Lay Ministry. The School of Lay Ministry is designed to educate and equip lay people for enhanced participation in congregational and synodical life through personal spiritual development, biblical enhancement, and life-long learning.

The School consists of a two year program with one year devoted to Bible study and the other to theology and church history. This rotating curriculum allows new participants to join each fall. Each year begins and ends with a retreat at Calumet (the Synod's outdoor ministry site in Freedom, New Hampshire) in September and May. Study groups that meet over the course of the year are formed based on geographical proximity. All registrations are due by July 31 and require a signature from your pastor as well as an initial deposit toward tuition.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

As God calls us to pray for one another, there is solace in community. The more we understand what we’re going through, the more we can comfort one another and share experiences. Pastor Chris encourages mutual prayer and care but without being intrusive. She would also like those making additions and deletions to the list to have the loved one’s permission to do so.
