Pastor's Message

  Dear Friend in Faith,

The Jurassic film series excites our interest in the primeval past and also our capacity to modify our world. Dinosaurs fascinate me. I love looking at the giant skeletons of the T Rex and the brontosaurus at natural history museums and try to imagine a world where these enormous creatures roamed freely. The movie taps into the intriguing possibility of cloning dangerous, prehistoric creatures that never actually lived side by side with humans. As the Jurassic movies portray, creation can never be completely confined — which is also a lesson about all kinds of technology that we enjoy and that sometimes goes much further than we intended...

Say Goodbye to Tommy Sunday
This is the last Sunday Tommy Strawser will be leading worship with the music ministry, so please come say goodbye. Tommy resigned on July 9, 2018 from his staff positions as Assistant Director of Music and Ignite Worship Leader. Tommy has contributed much to our music ministry. He will be missed.
Sunday Worship at PVUMC
Paradise Valley United Methodist Church (PVUMC) invites you to worship with us this summer at 9:30 am in the sanctuary and at 11 am in the chapel. Download the 9:30 am bulletin here. The Ignite service at 11 am is bulletin-free!

Debbie Doran Joins PVUMC Staff as Care Minister
Please welcome Debbie Doran as the church’s new Care Minister. Debbie joined PVUMC in 1997 and has a passion for caring for others. She is an active member of the Caring and Missions Ministry Teams and serves as Church Council secretary. She recently took on the responsibility of scheduling volunteers for the Feed My Starving Children monthly food packing events and serves on an Open Table.

Her new job responsibilities include coordinating the prayer chain via email, staff liaison to the Saguaros, funeral receptions, and prayer card ministry. She will also oversee the Best Freinds in Faith (BFF) program, grief support, the prayer shawl ministry, and flower ministry. She will work closely with the clergy to inform them of congregational needs and help coordinate hospital visits. Welcome, Debbie!
Journeys Small Groups at PVUMC
Just because it’s summer, it doesn’t mean the church closes down. We continue to ignite faith, transform lives and create community, and you’re invited to journey with us.  Journeys, small groups at pvumc, continue year round. In this more relaxed
season, there may be fewer opportunities, but there are still many choices. Pick up a guidebook on Sunday or download it here and talk to a friend about joining you on a new journey this summer.

Youth Mission Team Goes to TX
Paradise Valley United Methodist Church will send 22 high school students on the 2018 Senior High Mission Trip to Houston, TX, July 22-27, 2018. The team received a blessing in worship at the 9:30 am worship service last Sunday. Please keep the team in your prayers.
