Luthergarten
Help Faith give the gift of a tree!
Faith Lutheran Church has a very special opportunity. We are sponsoring one of 500 trees that are planted in Luthergarten in Wittenburg, Germany, in honor of the 500th Year Anniversary of the Reformation. The trees are in the design of Luther's emblem with the Luther Rose in the center. The contributing congregations are asked to plant a companion tree in their church yards, which we already did in April. The cost of doing this is $600. Faith Lutheran Church will receive a special certificate and pictures of our tree in Germany.
We've reached $200 toward our $600 goal.

"Luthergarten" on your check note.
There are only a few trees left to sponsor, so we'll have to move fast! If you'd like to donate towards this cause, checks can be placed in the offering plate or by mail, or stop by anytime between 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. this week. Women's Book Club on
Summer Hiatus
We meet the last Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the conference room;
however, we will not meet June - August.
On September 26, we will be discussing The Whispering of Snowflakes by Josephine Goldman (aka Faith member Ann Greenwood).
In the fall, we will begin reviewing books written by Florida authors. If you have a favorite FL author you'd like to recommend, please send selections to Janet Petersen (luvstitches55@gmail.com).

"Bless the Sanctuary" Day
August 19th at 10 a.m.
On Saturday, August 19th,10 a.m. to
1 p.m., WILD Women invite you to be a part of a project that will provide some much needed care to our cherished sanctuary. Please join us as we clean woodwork and remove candle wax from the pews, polish the brass candleholders, and give the blessed space a good dusting. We'll have a period of prayer and thanksgiving during the day as well.
As with any activity at Faith, we anticipate fellowship, laughter and joy in our work together!
We've applied for Thrivent grant money to provide a light lunch for our workers, plus gloves and all cleaning supplies. We'd really appreciate your help! There will be jobs you can do while seated or standing.
As part of this service project, we are also blessing another community organization, so we're collecting donations of cleaning supplies for Mothers Helping Mothers of Sarasota.
Please sign up to help "Bless the Sanctuary" at our display in the fellowship hall. And, please bring your donations of any kind of cleaning supplies for Mothers Helping Mothers, anytime between now and August 19. Coordinators and work crew leaders are needed as well. Questions? Easy Ways to Live Greener
In the Morning
- Brew "certified" coffee. A USDA Certified Organic label means it was grown using sustainable standards.

- Green "to go." Not brewing at home? Take a travel cup to your favorite java joint; they may fill it at a discount.
At Work
- Double up. Configure your office printer or copy machine so it prints on both sides of the page.
- Put it to sleep. If you'll be away from your computer for more than 20 minutes, change it to "sleep" mode.
Running Errands
- BYOB. Bags, that is. It's good for your wallet, too: Some retailers, such as CVS, now pay you for every disposable bag you don't take ($1 on a special CVS card for every four trips on which you BYO).
Before Bed
- Truly turn off electronics. Plug your devices - the TV and DVD player, or the computer and printer - into a UL-certified power strip; switch the whole group off for the evening to prevent phantom electrical draw.
