FaithWorks 2024

gets personal.

The mission statement of FaithWorks is from the Gospel according to Matthew 25:35,36, 40.

Jesus said, “I was hungry, and you gave me food, I was thirsty, and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was sick, and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.” … and Jesus finishes, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.”

With the staggering increase in the need for assistance these last difficult years, these words of Jesus need to be proclaimed loud and clear. The hope of this year’s FaithWorks campaign is to help bridge the gap between the one who hungers and the one who can feed, the one who thirsts and the one who can give drink, the one on the outside, the stranger, and the one who can offer welcome.

To this end, this year’s campaign is focusing on two vulnerable individuals, Amber and Cliff, who have agreed to share with us a glimpse of their ‘living rough.’ They, and we, hope that their sharing of themselves will inspire us to share more of ourselves with others whose day to day life is a struggle.

An important change this year is in the size of the envelope of the information packages being sent to parishes for distribution to parishioners. At the request of a number of parishes, they have been reduced to a regular letter-size envelope. This is to facilitate their being mailed by the parish to parishioners when this option is chosen. A number of parishes place their mailing labels on the FaithWorks envelopes and leave them in the narthex for pick-up. After a few weeks, the remainder are mailed to the parishioners.

For 2024, a generous donor has offered a $100,000 matching challenge grant for all new and increased donations. That means for every dollar raised over last year’s amount, by an individual or parish, FaithWorks receives an extra dollar. We encourage you to make a special effort this year – doing a little more can make twice the difference.

The FaithWorks website, faithworks.ca has been updated with new videos to promote FaithWorks and our ministry partners. There are short, medium and long videos to include in your parish's online presence or in-person gatherings. They can be downloaded directly from the website.
