THE WEEKLY WORD | April 6, 2026

Easter Sunday at Madison Presbyterian Church was a joyful and meaningful celebration. The sanctuary was full of the family gathered together, lifted by beautiful music from strings, horns, and voices—highlighted by a stirring “Hallelujah Chorus.” It was a truly memorable service, graciously led by Rev. Shelli Latham, a cherished child of our church.

Hymn Sing April 12

Join us on April 12 at 11 AM for a special service of worship, story, and song! Instead of a formal program, we are letting the Spirit (and your favorites) lead the way as we celebrate the rich music found in our Glory to God hymnal. This is a fantastic way to glorify God through the voices of our community.

How It Works:

  1. Cast Your Vote: Upon your arrival at the church, please head to the designated "Hymn Box." Write down the name or number of your favorite hymn from the Glory to God hymnal and place it in the box.

  2. The Luck of the Draw: During the service, we will pull 8 to 10 hymns at random to be shared with the congregation.

  3. Share Your Story: If your hymn is pulled, we invite you to stand and briefly share why this hymn is your favorite or what it means to your faith journey.

  4. Sing Together: We will then proceed to sing 2–3 verses of each selected hymn together as a body of believers.
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly... singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God." — Colossians 3:16

Come prepared to share your heart and your voice! We can’t wait to see which songs our "village" chooses to lift up.

Transitions Study Starts April 8

All are invited to participate in a NEW Wednesday evening study starting April 8.

CHANGE is a part of every life—and every church. Some transitions we choose, others arrive uninvited. Some feel full of promise, while others carry loss, uncertainty, or even grief. Wherever you find yourself, you are not alone—and you are invited.

Join us for Faithful Transitions: Finding God in Change, a weekly gathering designed to help us navigate life’s shifts with honesty, hope, and faith. Using the framework of transition expert William Bridges, we’ll explore the three phases of transition—endings, the in-between, and new beginnings—and consider how God meets us in each one.

Along the way, we’ll engage the wisdom of thoughtful Christian voices like Barbara Brown Taylor, Sarah Bessey, Kate Bowler, Walter Brueggemann, and Emily Lund, grounding our conversations in both spiritual insight and real-life experience.

Each session stands on its own, so you can come whenever you’re able—no book to purchase and no pre-reading required. Whether you’re facing a personal change, supporting someone else, or walking alongside our church during this season of transition, this space is for you.

Together, we’ll name what we’re carrying, make room for what’s unfolding, and begin to imagine what a new normal might look like—with God present in it all.

Come as you are. Come when you can. There is a place for you here.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesdays from 6-7 PM, in the Church Library.
