Many students and parents have been inquiring about the UNLV Science Fair for this school year.

YES! Coral Academy Eastgate will still participate in science fair; however, after many discussions with parents and other CASLV administration, it has been determined that there will be some changes to HOW the Science Fair is implemented in each grade level.

  • Science Fair OR Invention option!  Students will have the opportunity to complete a Science Fair project OR an Invention Fair Project.
  • Grades K-1: Classes will complete a class project.
  • Everything will be done at school in order to properly teach the components of a science fair experiment and/or the engineering design process (for inventions).
  • Families/students will not be responsible for any portions at home; however, we will encourage parents to volunteer in the classrooms when needed. (Volunteer Packet will need to be completed).
  • Grades 2-5: Students will complete projects in groups (3 students max).
  • Everything will be done at school in order to properly teach the components of a science fair experiment and/or the engineering design process (for inventions).
  • Families/students will not be responsible for any portions at home; however, we will encourage parents to volunteer in the classrooms when needed (Volunteer Packet will need to be completed).
  • 5th grade students have the option to complete individually for UNLV (at home), however, support will be provided to students and families (i.e. step by step models available on website, samples of completed projects, time after school with science and/or STEM teacher to support students, etc.).
  • Grades 6-7:  Students will work individually, in pairs, or small group (max of 3).
  • Time will be provided to complete at school.
  • Students will also need to complete some work at home.
  • Support will be provided to students after school (from science and/or STEM teacher) for those students who are wanting to go to UNLV Fair.
  • UNLV Participation: Submission to the official UNLV Science and Invention Fair will be optional; however, we would like as many students as possible to participate! Students work very hard on these projects and we want to encourage as many students as possible to be recognized for their hard work and tremendous efforts!
  • Timeline: Projects must be completed by mid-February (exact date TBD).

Please note: the SCIENCE FAIR PACKET is still being finalized and will be sent out to students and families soon!
