HELP NEEDED-SERVICE HOURS GIVEN
If you are available consistently any school day between 12-1, we would appreciate your help during lunch time yard duty. We want to ensure that our students are well supervised during the lunch period while they eat and play. We currently only have two parents who help with yard duty on a regular basis and we could use your help! Service hours are given for volunteering. Please call the school office to volunteer or if you have any questions.

SAVE THE DATES:
Falcon Family Picnic will be on September 14th. This is just a fun evening of friendship and food. Each family will be asked to share a main dish, salad, or dessert. More details coming soon!

In-N-Out Lunch Fundraiser will be on September 21st. Tickets will go on sale soon. Parents/Guardians/Family members are invited to come and have lunch with your student.

Our first big fundraiser of the year will begin on September 15th! Students will attend a kick off rally on the 14th and receive their cases of candy that day.

HEALTH CONCERN:
This summer has been difficult for those who tend to get bit by mosquitoes. The current heat wave has made it even worse. The mosquitoes are a problem throughout the cities of Los Angeles County. Please continue to use some sort of repellent on your child if he or she is susceptible to bites.
Fabulous Falcons Awards

New this year: Each Friday, Mrs. Wade gives Five Fabulous Falcon Awards to students who have shown good behavior, made good choices, and/or acted kindly towards others.
Our Fabulous Falcons for Friday, August 25th and Friday September 1st are shown here.

Thank you to all parents/grandparents/guardians who were present at Back to School Night! Even though it was a very hot evening, most parents were there and teachers enjoyed welcoming you into their classrooms.
#FalconsGive
Last Friday we had a $1 dress down day. Our student council usually sponsors them once a month, but we decided to do a special one last week. Students were invited to bring more than $1 because we wanted to raise some money to help those who have been affected by the flooding in Texas. Our little Catholic school of 182 students raised just over $1000! Thanks to all of the families who gave so generously, we will be able to help St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish in the Houston area as they begin to rebuilt their sanctuary which was flooded during the hurricane, and replace needed supplies for religious instruction. How wonderful to be able to help another St. Ignatius community-Thanks to All!
Click on the link below to help St. Ignatius Texas with a one time Hurricane Rebuild or Direct Assistance gift.

All families are asked to give four (4) hours of service to the parish during the festival which will be held in October (13-16). Please click on the link to see the days and times when help will be needed. You may sign up right on the Sign Up Genius site. Sign up soon to ensure the day and time of your choice.

If you would like to give more hours to this event, we are in need of a parent representative to attend festival planning meetings. We also need a parent/family/team to be in charge of selling coffee/morning snacks on the Sunday morning of the festival, and another parent/family/team to be in charge of cooking and selling bratwurst on the Sunday of the festival starting at around 11 AM. Please contact the office if you are able to help in any of these positions.

Dominican Corner
The Dominican Sisters Vision of Hope was created to ensure the quality, affordability and vibrant future of 8 inner-city Dominicans Schools, five in the greater Los Angeles Area and three in the Bay Area, and the children and communities they serve. Under the umbrella of the  Dominican Sisters Vision of Hope  each school has a development director responsible for generating broad-based community support. Thanks to the generosity of loyal donors Vision of Hope currently has a permanent endowment of $9.2 million and has distributed to the schools over $ 9.6 million, including $5.4 million in tuition assistance, since 2004 when distributions began.
St. Ignatius is blessed to be a Vision of Hope school!

Eclipse Viewing at School
On August 21st, our students enjoyed a day off from school while we hosted a professional development meeting for 100 teachers from various schools. Of course, the teachers took a break to go out to the playground for some eclipse viewing. #lifelonglearners
