A Message From The Interim Superintendent
Happy Friday Falcon Families and Staff!
As a student, teacher, principal, and superintendent, I’ve always taken the state-mandated assessments seriously, and I encourage you to inspire your students to take them seriously as well. The results provide all of us with snapshots of individual student performances, indicating specific areas of strength, and areas on which to focus for improvement. The results also provide a common measurement to compare our overall performance to other schools and other districts, as well as identifying specific areas that we can target for improvement on classroom, school, and district levels.
Here are some of the important dates to note regarding the upcoming state assessments. Details related to the testing schedules will be provided by the schools:
McDowell Mountain Elementary School Testing Schedule
April 7th, 12th, 14th, 19th, & 21st - Arizona Academic Standards Assessment (AASA): Replacing the AzM2, the AASA is the newly adopted state standardized test for 3rd-8th grade students. At MMES, only 3rd grade students will be tested. Students are assessed in the following areas: Reading, Writing, and Math. “Make up” tests will be given April 25th-29th.
Fountain Hills Middle School Testing Schedule
Monday, March 28th - AzSCI (5th & 8th grade): The AzSCI assessment will be administered to 5th & 8th grade students. Students will be assessed in Physical Science, Earth/Space Science, & Life Science
April 11th-14th - Arizona Academic Standards Assessment (AASA): Replacing the AzM2, the AASA is the newly adopted state standardized test for 3rd-8th grade students. At FHMS, 4th-8th grade students will be assessed in the following areas: Reading, Writing, and Math.
Fountain Hills High School Testing Schedule
Tuesday, April 5th - ACT (11th grade students): The ACT is the newly adopted state standardized test for 11th grade students. All 11th grade students are required to test on this date on campus.
Tuesday, April 12th - ACT Aspire (9th grade students) & AzSCI (11th grade students): ACT Aspire is the newly adopted state standardized test for 9th grade students. Students will be assessed in the following areas: English, Math, Reading, Science, & Writing. The AzSCI assessment will be administered to all 11th grade students. Students will be assessed in Physical Science, Earth/Space Science, & Life Science.
Thursday, April 14th - ACT Aspire (9th grade students) & AzSCI (11th grade students)
