A Message from the Superintendent

Happy Friday Falcons!
 
One more week to Spring Break!! This Falcon Focus concentrates on all the happenings going on in the district. There’s A LOT!!! Next week, you’ll receive the principal’s Falcon Focus. Watch for the school level happenings next Friday.
 
We’d like to encourage you, if your child is on remote instruction, student athletes also, to send your children to school as we go into the last quarter. We’d love to have them present with us as we finish up the year. We received an updated Governor’s Executive Order requiring the opening for in-person learning for all schools by March15th or after Spring Break. We are really lucky that we have been open since October for in-person learning. To see the Governor’s full executive order, please visit this site.
 
Registration and Enrollment for 2021-2022 Starts March 8th
2021-22 annual registration for existing students and 2021-22 enrollment for new students opens up on Monday, March 8th. We are completing all registrations and enrollments online through the parent portal on PowerSchool. Please watch for a Peachjar flyer to come to you with all the details. Here are some key points to note when registering:
  1. The directions for getting a parent portal login are located on any FHUSD school or district office website under Resources – Power School.
  2. If you already have access to the parent portal you can simply click on the PowerSchool button on the top right of the home page on any FHUSD school or district office website and it will take you directly to the portal to begin the process.
  3. Everything will be completed through this portal for registration and enrollment.
  4. If the process isn’t completed, we will be unable to schedule your student in classes or assign them to a teacher at the elementary level.
 
Stakeholder Surveys
You will soon be asked to complete surveys (parent, teacher, student) about the district. We will be using this information to develop the district’s strategic plan. Please watch for the Peachjar flyer that will provide you with information on how, when, and where to complete the survey.
 
Committee Work
The district is engaging in work to improve the processes and procedures within the district. Attendance, Enrollment/Withdrawal, Gifted Education, Disaster Preparedness Planning, AVID, Career and Technical Education, PBIS, and Cultural Inclusivity are just a few of the committees we have working on improvement. We are also improving the support staff evaluation tool, parent/student handbook, and facilities rental guide. If you are interested in joining any of the committees, please email me. We would like to have your feedback and participation in developing programs in our district.
 
Summer School
We are in the final steps of planning summer school. We’ll be sending out a flyer about summer school shortly. We are going to have learning opportunities – both online and in-person available for students this summer. Not only will high school students be able to complete credit recovery classes, but there will be opportunities for students to take other courses this summer through Schools PLP. We are also hoping to have some camp opportunities for students this summer – stay tuned.
 
COVID-19 Update
Just a reminder that we are updating our district COVID numbers every Thursday. You’ll find the information regarding cases in the district and also in the community at Resources – COVID-19 Updates and Information.
 
Four Peaks
The district is partnering with several community agencies/groups to further the business incubator model at Four Peaks. We currently have six tenants in the building developing their businesses and business models.
 
Facilities Audit
The district has engaged the services of Gordian to complete a thorough audit of the facilities in the district. They will be reviewing and evaluating the actual buildings, roofing, heating and cooling systems just to name a few. You’ll see their staff on our campuses doing the evaluations during March and April. The final evaluation report will be completed and submitted to the Governing Board in the July-August timeframe. We will share the report with you when it is complete. This document will also assist us in the development of the strategic plan during the 2021-2022 school year.
