Home of the Falcons!
"Fountain Hills Middle School empowers students to learn, to care, and to succeed."
Principal's Message                                  September 29, 2017
We have so much activity on our campus at this time, and I want to take this opportunity to remind everyone of a few of those important events and dates:

PTO Book Fair: The Book Fair kicked off this week in our library with a Wild West Day yesterday. The Book Fair will continue every weekday through Thursday, October 5, so don't forget to stop by during Parent/Teacher Conferences. Also, be sure to check out Dudes & Donuts Tuesday morning, one hour before school.

Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences: Please see the information below regarding the grade-level scheduling. We hope you can stop by, but if you cannot, teachers are available by phone and email. Call our office at 480.664.5414 with any questions or to leave a message. If you have questions for me or our counselor, Julie Goodell, we will be attending. We look forward to seeing you very soon!

First Quarter Grades: Final grades will be posted on PowerSchool (Q1 column) on Wednesday, October 4.

Next Week's Schedule: Next Wednesday, October 4, is NOT an early out day. School dismisses at the regular time of 3:10 pm. Next Thursday is a half day of school with dismissal at 12:15 pm, and there is no school next Friday.

Activity Bus: Finally, as you may know, we are fortunate to now have an activity bus that departs FHMS at 4:10 pm every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for students who stay after school for clubs and activities. A copy of this bus schedule can be found on the "News" page of our website or downloaded HERE. I would like to share with you the following link which shows the actual stops for this activity bus in Google Maps. Users can zoom in on the map for greater detail and click on the STOP icon to get drop off details. If parents have any questions, they should contact the transportation department at 480-664-5310.

Parent Teacher Conferences

You are invited to FHMS Parent Teacher Conferences!

4th Grade: Conferences will be held the week of October 2 by appointment. Scheduling notices were sent home. Please contact your child's teacher if you do not receive a notice.

5th Grade: Forms were sent home requesting conferences only to those students who are in danger of failing one or more subjects. If a teacher does not feel a conference is necessary, parents may still request one by contacting the teacher.

6-8 Grade: We will have conferences during the day on Thursday, October 5 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. On Friday, October 6, teachers will be conferencing from 8:00 a.m. to noon. It will be an "open house" format for both days, and parents are invited to attend as convenient.

Red Ribbon Week

The purpose of the National Red Ribbon Campaign is to serve as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities. Next week students will be engaging in various activities throughout the week which emphasize the importance of being drug/alcohol/smoke free. All students and teachers are encouraged to participate in the following activities:

Monday: Pledge Day - Students pledge to be drug/alcohol/tobacco free

Tuesday:Classrooms brainstorm activities to enjoy without the negative influence of drug/alcohol/tobacco

Wednesday: Sock it to Drugs Day - Wear crazy socks to school!

Thursday: Red Ribbon Day - Everyone Wear Red! All students will participate in activities in the gym
