Veterans Week
MMES students and staff honored our veterans with Veterans Week, November 5-9! This included an amazing performance of "Operation: America" by 2nd grade students and music teacher, Mrs. Perkins on November 6 where they honored veterans with heartfelt patriotic songs. The Veterans of Foreign Wars even came to conduct the flag ceremony!
Then we honored veterans again at the Veterans' Day/Caring assembly on November 9! This included Student Council's report on their toiletry drive for Mana House's veterans. MMES collected almost 3,000 toiletries for this charity!
Junior Achievement Day on November 13
Junior Achievement is a program where parent and other community volunteers are trained to teach lessons focused on work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. MMES devotes an entire day to this program and STEM teacher, Jill Cooper coordinates it. In addition to the community members teaching lessons in every classroom, Fountain Hills mayor Linda Cavanagh presented to and answered questions from third graders about her position and how our town government works.
Thank you, Fountain Hills Leadership Academy!
Speaking of STEM teacher, Jill Cooper, she and Mrs. D were presented with a 3D printer at the Fountain Hills Leadership Academy dinner on November 8. The Leadership Academy toured the schools last month and were impressed with school including its STEM program. When they asked about our equipment, Mrs. Cooper shared her "wish list" and afterward the Leadership Academy decided to purchase a 3D printer for our school! Thank you, FH Leadership Academy for your generosity
and support!
