September at MMES

So much has been happening at MMES in September!  Here's just a bit of it and we'll have more information and photos for you next time!

Apex Fun Run

First off, we started September with our Apex Fun Run Kick-Off Pep Rally on September 3! Our Apex coaches Mighty Mike, Awesome Alex, and All Star Alex got everyone excited about making pledges for this fun fundraiser sponsored by FHPTO!  Below are some photos from our pep rally and we'll have the actual fun run photos from September 12 and 13 next time. For now, we also have our successful results from FHPTO!

Ballet Under the Stars

Fountain Hills is one of only 3 to 4 state communities that hosts "Ballet Under the Stars" every September. Ballet Arizona dancers rehearsed with our MMES third graders and FHMS fourth graders supervised by our music teacher, Mrs. Perkins and the performance was on September 11 at Fountain Park! Our students and Ballet Arizona danced beautifully! Below are some rehearsal photos and we'll have photos of the actual MMES/FHMS performance next time.

Falcon Leaders Announced on Constitution Day

On September 17, MMES celebrated Constitution Day and the Character Counts trait of Citizenship with their assembly. We'll have lots of photos for you soon but first we wanted to tell you about our Falcon Leaders who were announced at the assembly: Christina Josay, Landon Ostrander, Nevaeh Heiman, Ricky Peiro, Justine Josay, Blaine Pattea, James Levik, Harrison Currier, and Cullen Bratcher.

A Falcon Leader is someone who makes the right choice even when no one is watching.

Falcon Leaders show RESPECT to their teachers, parents, and fellow students. They are FAIR and show RESPONSIBILITY by doing their homework carefully and turning it in on time. Falcon Leaders CARE about their families, friends, school and the environment. You can TRUST a Falcon Leader to tell the truth, make positive choices such as trying to solve a problem in a peaceful way, and help others when they need it. A Falcon Leader is chosen because they are examples of what it means to be a good CITIZEN.

Falcon Leaders work with the school counselor to develop ideas to promote Character Counts and other positive character traits. This includes making announcements in the morning, making posters and other visuals, presenting in classrooms, presenting at school assemblies, and leading community services projects. Falcon Leaders are selected by teachers in September and serve for the entire school year. Very often the previous year's 2nd grade Falcon Leaders return as 3rd grade Falcon Leaders.

Muffin's Musings

There is only one me!
Even though I have brothers and sisters who look somewhat like me... they are still different than me.  I am the only ME!

What makes me me?  Well, I'm a great listener.  I can make my mom laugh a lot especially when I'm chasing my tail, fighting with my back paw, or just running wildly around the living room table.

My friends at school are all unique individuals.  Each one is special in their own way. Maybe they are great basketball players, hula hoopers, great spellers, or amazing at math.  Maybe they are just extra kind to their friends and teachers. But each one is special to me. They all give great "hugs" when I come to visit.

Mrs. Perry, our art teacher, is going to read a special book to the students here at school this month called, "Only One You".  Then she is going to let all of us paint our own individual rock to put in a rock garden in front of our school. This is going to me so much fun!  I love to paint even though it gets in my fur and I have to take a bath (ugh). But this garden will be so beautiful and will brighten up the front of our school.  It will make everyone who comes to visit smile when they see it.

If you know anyone who would like to donate their time or rocks, it sure would help our school!

I love rocks but they can hurt my little paws when I'm outside.
