We are not alien, we are antebellum. T-shirts in response to all the UFO calls!
Mary is Retiring! It's Not Goodbye, It's See You Later!

To say that Mary wore many hats during her time at the Roswell CVB is possibly an understatement. In her early days with our tourism program she welcomed visitors, maintained our database of partners, and helped us all to learn a bit more about computers.

When the CVB and the Roswell Folk & Heritage Bureau presented The Roswell Magnolia Storytelling Festival (which rapidly grew in national reputation) Mary was familiar with the storytelling community and was able to introduce us to new potential tellers for our programs. She had been active not only with Toastmasters International but also as a storyteller.

Prior to employment with us, she served for over 30 years as a Programmer and Systems Analysts in the corporate world. She is a self-described Computer Geek with a mathematics background. Most of you know her as our Social Media Strategist, the position from which she is now retiring. But she was also the person who gathered all our statistics and turned them into monthly reports.

Mary may be retiring but she will not be idle. She and her husband Steve have numerous volunteer efforts to which they are dedicated and Mary plans to continue her lay servant ministries.

Mary's CVB family thanks her for her contributions to our tourism program and wishes her joy and happiness as she continues her life's journey.

Happy Retirement Mary! We will miss you!

National Vinegar Day

National Vinegar Day is near, and November 1st just might become your favorite day. It may seem hokey to have a day dedicated to vinegar, but after a visit to a Roswell local favorite, Oli + Ve, it will change your mind!

Located in the Historic District of Roswell on Canton Street,  Oli + Ve is a local shop ready to introduce you to the finest extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) and vinaigrettes. Using oils and vinaigrettes is not just for the foodie or chef in your life, Oli + Ve knows that even beginners will walk through their doors. The staff provides a list of what oils pair best with certain vinaigrettes and dishes. They also provide information on ways to use vinaigrettes as marinades to take your meal planning to the next level. Beginners and pros will both come out of their Oli + Ve experience with new found knowledge to take back to their kitchens.

Would it shock you if we told you ice cream and a vinaigrette can be combined for an unbelievably yummy treat? You can try and find your favorite combinations at one of their tastings! With over 50 different oils and vinaigrettes to taste, visitors are sure to be introduced to something new that can be added to their cooking methods. The staff will show you the best way to taste the product so that you can get all of the notes and flavors out of each tasting. Oli + Ve welcomes walk-ins and they offer private tastings to groups.

Be sure to stop by Oli + Ve for National Vinegar Day on Thursday, November 1, to enjoy a tasting  in honor of the day! Can't make it? Follow along with us on social media to see what tastings we are going to try and be sure to add a visit to Oli + Ve on your trip to Roswell.

Film Friendly Roswell

Roswell keeps racking up the film credits and the latest one is 'First Man.' Director Damien Chazelle was looking to create a feeling of community on screen and found it in person in Roswell. The neighborhood where filming took place welcomed the actors and crew and even made them space themed cookies.
Becca J.G. Godwin (2018) 'How Metro Atlanta helped makers of 'First Man' capture Armstrong's Story'
Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Ryan Gosling, Claire Foy and Jason Clarke star in 'First Man' following the life story of Neil Armstrong and the giant leap he took for mankind.

Check out the trailer here and make plans to go see 'First Man.'

Four-legged Explorers

Roswell is very welcoming to our furry, four-legged friends. There are miles of trails just waiting for a lazy stroll or a fun hike. If your dog loves the water, what better way to enjoy it then a float down the Chattahoochee River. Don't forget Roswell's award winning parks that are all dog-friendly.

Canton Street, a Roswell favorite, is lined with sidewalk cafes you and your best bud can enjoy.

Meet our pal, Chief Winston the Renegade of Roswell. He's hiking the trails at Vickery Creek.
