Dysart Takes Honor Flight of a Lifetime

Attorney Lewis Dysart was given the opportunity to participate in an Honor Flight trip to the nation's capital. Honor Flight is a non-profit organization which transports America's veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices. Lewis was part of a group of more than 60 veterans and guests that traveled to D.C. in October with the Honor Flight team.
Shapiro Honored for 35 Years of Volunteerism and Cyprus Avenue Program at KCUR-FM
Bill Shapiro was honored by the Kansas City Council in a proclamation acknowledging his 35 years of volunteering at KCUR-FM public radio and more than seven years of volunteer work at the Folly Theater. Bill premiered his weekly Cyprus Avenue program in October 1978.
On September 28, Bill celebrated his 35th Anniversary of bringing listeners Cyprus Avenue, with a special celebration concert at The Folly Theater.
Montemore Featured in KC Counselor Veterans Tribute for Air Force Service in Vietnam
The KC Counselor profiled Marty Montemore in its November Veterans Day Tribute. The article highlights Marty's years as an Air Force pilot. He gained experience flying a variety of aircraft, including a single-engine plane, a supersonic jet and a C-130 four-engine turboprop transport. Marty was awarded the Air Medal with six Oak Leaf Clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross for his wartime efforts.

A 2013 Federal Trade Commission (FTC) report revealed that approximately 25% of consumer credit reports may contain errors. More significantly, approximately 5% of consumer credit reports contain errors that are considerable enough to place the consumer in a higher credit risk category. These credit report errors could result in higher interest rates on credit cards, and home and auto loans.

Denial of Life Insurance and Accident Benefits
Suppose an insured person lives in Missouri or Kansas and names you as the beneficiary in a life insurance policy, but the insurance company denies paying benefits because something was omitted or misstated in the application for insurance. You assume that you can't receive the benefits, but that may not truly be the case if the insured lived in Missouri or Kansas.

Unlawful Brokerage Activities Risk Unlimited Liability - Both Corporate and Personal

A motor carrier is no longer allowed to "broker" shipments it does not physically transport at some point unless the carrier is also registered as a broker. Anyone who provides interstate freight brokerage services without FMCSA broker registration, and the new $75,000 bond or trust fund applicable to brokers, is liable "for all valid claims incurred without regard to amount." This private cause of action is in addition to a civil penalty of up to $10,000 for each violation. Civil penalty and private cause of action liability extends, jointly and severally, to the business entity and to its officers, directors, and principals.
