Camp IPPS & Connexxus Celebrate

This year UC San Diego's Integrated Procure-to-Pay Solutions (IPPS) hosted Camp IPPS, with a spin. Campus clients, aka campers, were able to choose from over 25 training courses on a wide-range of hot topics including source justification, electronic invoicing, and Connexxus tips and tricks. The trainings included panels, refresher overviews, and one even included a skit!  Read more
UC / U.S. Bank Expanded Partnership Opens Opportunities for Students and Campuses

UC and U.S. Bank have deepened their strategic partnership with a new Expanded Partnership program. These exciting new mission-aligned partnership opportunities include: paid student internships at U.S. Bank offices, paid on-campus student project opportunities and other campus sponsorship opportunities.  
Contract Migration Reaps Benefits

"A central contract database " - the one-line statement from the State Auditor that sparked a huge initiative across UC Procurement.  Over the past six months, we have worked as a team to accomplish the audit deadline of a central contract repository in CalUsource by December 2018, and we are excited to report we are on track to meet that goal!   Read more
UC Admired Internationally for Collaboration

In a recent report published through Cardiff University in the UK, the University of California was featured for its collaboration and cost savings methodology in Procurement. Of particular note was the way all ten campuses and the Office of the President in Oakland work together to leverage over $8 billion in annual spend.  Read more

SupplyChain500 Addresses Funding

While we have moved this initiative forward by first focusing on projects that can be advanced within current budgets, one of the biggest challenges is finding the funding needed to implement larger and longer-term changes. With this in mind, the SC500 Advisory Group identified two major priorities: revenue generation and program funding.  Read more
Partnership Pays Off

Procurement Services works every day to reduce spend and increase value to direct more resources to the UC's core mission. One way we do this is by partnering with other departments to achieve lower costs and help them derive more value from their activities. 

Russell Chung Named New Berkeley CPO

Russell Chung joins UC Berkeley as Chief Procurement Officer on October 8th. Russ brings extensive experience in procurement, contract management, strategic sourcing, e-procurement, and purchasing in both corporate and higher education settings. 
Most recently, Russ served as CPO for the City University of New York (CUNY), overseeing procurement activities for 24 campuses. He also served as Director of Purchasing for Ohio State University. His private sector experience includes global supply management for Kohler, Delphi, and General Motors corporations. Russ is a UCLA alum, and brings a wealth of life experience to Berkeley's diverse campus having lived in Hawaii, California, Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan, New York, Japan, and Thailand.
Andrew Houston awarded for diversity awareness efforts in Bay Area legal community

On August 23, 2018, UC Procurement Counsel Andrew Houston was honored by the Bar Association of San Francisco's Barristers Club for his outstanding efforts to increase awareness of diversity issues in the Bay Area legal community.
 
Heather Perry - New SPWG Co-Chair

Heather Perry, Sustainable Procurement Analyst at UC Santa Barbara, is assuming the Co-Chair position of the Sustainable Procurement Working Group (SPWG) left vacant by the departure of Hilary Bekmann. Heather joins current SPWG Co-Chair and PLC member, Darin Matthews, to advance sustainable procurement practices throughout the UC system.
