Rosanne Geylin
Happy Fall to All! by Rosanne Geylin, Friends President
I am very pleased to introduce myself as the new president of the Friends of Eldredge Public Library (FEPL). I am excited and look forward to continuing the good work done by the very capable and intelligent Kerry Brown.
FEPL has a lot to look forward to as we plan the year ahead. Our wonderful board is a mixture of new faces and old; all are dedicated to continuing to make our Library, what I call the "Jewel on Main Street," better than ever.
The Passport to Savings was a tremendous success. Thanks to all who purch Passport to Savings ased this handy little blue book that resembles a real passport. I hope everyone is enjoying the money saving coupons within it! A special thanks to Bette and Jeff Hahner for spearheading this project and working tirelessly to make it a major fundraiser for FEPL. The lucky winners of our giveaway prizes will be announced Sept 12.
The FEPL board encourages library patrons and the public in general to visit our beautiful library and meet the knowledgeable, friendly staff. Becoming a "Friend" of the library is very easy - you can click on this link: https://www.eldredgelibrary.org/friends-of-the-library/membership/ - or visit the Library for further information. With your continued help, we happily provide programs for all ages all year! We are busy launching the Fall Learning Series Fall 2018 Learning Series logo , which is chock-full of interesting and fascinating classes, and there is much more to come as we march toward 2019. So, please come join us and stay in touch. We are working for a common goal for a very special resource in Chatham.
Welcome Back by  Amy Andreasson, Library  Director
Apples, Pumpkins, Foliage ... it's just about here and I can't wait! Fall is awesome at the Eldredge Public Library! We have many fall programs scheduled, the Fall Learning Series is starting, all our book groups, movie groups, community groups, writer's groups, after school programs, and storytimes (take a breath!) are back. The staff is busy expanding our services (do you need a notary?), adding programs (we will have 5 multi-generational book groups this fall) and purchasing the latest best sellers ( place your requests). The books are back on the shelves so you can grab that book you didn't actually get to and head to the hammock.
The Eldredge Public Library is seeking a full-time Youth Services Librarian who is creative, enthusiastic, and energetic. Don't worry, no one is leaving! This position is an addition to our outstanding team of professionals! If you are interested, please visit our website for more information. We look forward to seeing you in the library this Fall.
Libraries Rock!...And the FEPL Rocks, too!
by Tammy DePasquale, Youth Services Librarian
  Libraries Rock
As the Tidings goes to press, Youth Services is wrapping up a very busy summer that included several outstanding professional presentations and performances, a variety of staff-led programs, and the 2018 summer reading campaign, Libraries Rock! None of these activities would be possible without the continued support of the Friends of the Eldredge Public Library.
During fiscal year 2018, Youth Services offered 422 programs for infants, children, teens, and their adult caregivers. The number of programs and the attendance at each is one measure of success - one we have to report to the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners each year. However, we prefer to measure our successes by the happy faces that visit Youth Services throughout the year.

The Friends ask for your support!
by Tom Quill, Membership Committee
FEPL Membership Form

Our FEPL membership drive was mailed out in July. Your continued support allows us to fund those services and projects that are beyond the regular operating budget of the library.  If you haven't already, please take a minute to renew your membership online, by mail or drop off at the library.  We can never have enough Friends!
Annual Fund Drive
by Trustee Development Committee

     The FY19
Annual Fund Campaign letter will hit mailboxes this Oct.  Proceeds from the Annual Fund go directly to  Library Library operating costs such as salaries, utilities and materials (books, DVD, audio books, etc).  The generosity of donors and the success of this campaign has a profound impact on our ability to continue to provide the high level of services and programming upon which our community depends and definitely deserves!  The Town of Chatham provides 60% of our operating budget.  The Library funds the remaining 40% through endowment income, grants and donations to the Annual Fund.  Every donation counts.  We appreciate and thank you for your support!
Have You Visited the Poetry Walk?
Poetry Walk
A Walk with Words, promoting literacy, learning and a deeper appreciation of and connection with the natural world.  The Poetry Walk project is a collaboration between the Eldredge Public Library and the Chatham Conservation Foundation.  The .75 mile walk is located at the Training Field Triangle, with parking available in a pull-off area at the corner of Training Field Road and Old Comers Road in Chatham. Each poem along the walk (adult and children poems) has been selected to highlight the site.  We hope you enjoy your time in the "Triangle" and leave a note, comment or poem in the journal provided. The Poetry Walk will welcome visitors through Columbus Day weekend - don't delay!
