TOWN of WELSH AUTUMN EVENTS

SEPTEMBER

12  -The Friends of the Welsh Museum are announcing  a exciting Fall fundraiser.  A member of the museum volunteers has made and donated a unique LSU quilt -  throw size - to be raffled at $1 per chance.  The drawing for the winner will be held at our annual Taste & Sell on November 14th.  Tickets can be purchased from Mary Sue Lyon (337-734-3811) or Karen Trahan (337-526-9052).
 
26 - The Friends of the Welsh Museum's 4th annual  Louisiana Prairie Supper will be held at the Welsh Community Center. Dine In is from 6PM to 8:00PM or Take Out from 5:30PM to 7PM is available.  Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased from any museum member, at the museum Tuesday through Friday from 10AM to 2PM or by calling 734-3811.

NOVEMBER

1 Welsh High School Homecoming honors the classes of 1950, 1960, 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000 and 2010.  The Rotary Club of Welsh will host the 34th Sam Fontenot Memorial Gumbo from 5:00PM to 6:30PM at Welsh Elementary Cafeteria.  Port Barrie vs. Welsh High Greyhounds Football game begins at 7:00PM at Greyhound Stadium.
 
2 The Yellow Rails and Rice Festival  Reception with heavy hors d' oeuvres will be held at the Welsh Museum from 6:30PM to 8:30PM, 202 E South St. in Welsh.
 
9 Martin and  Shipp VFW Post 9046  and the American Legion Post 283 will host a  Veterans DayCeremony at Veterans Park At 9:00AM to commemorate those who have served and for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to keep us the home of the brave and the land of the free. Following this ceremony a  Flag Retirement Ceremony sponsored by both organizations and the Live Oak Chapter of the DAR will be held in front of the Welsh Museum at 9:30AM. Local Boy and Girl Scout troops will participate.   
If anyone has flags to retire, please bring them the day of the event or drop them off at the Welsh Museum, 202 E South St. Tuesday through Friday from 10AM until 2PM.
A reception will follow in the Museum.  
 
14  - The Friends of the Welsh Museum will  host its annual   Taste & Sell , from 5:30PM to 8:00PM, 202 E. South St.  Tickets are on sale for $10 and can be purchased from any museum member, at the museum Tuesday through Friday from 10AM to 2PM,  or by calling 734-3811 the evening of the event.  Holiday cookbooks containing recipes from foods served and are available for $5.  The drawing for the winner of the handmade LSU quilt - throw size raffle will be held.


Also, visit the "Old Magnolia" gift shop located in the Tupper Museum! One of a kind gifts, vintage toys, Louisiana Souvenirs, retro candy and art work by local artists! Hours are the same as the Tupper Museum.
