Fall 2020 Move-In &
Dining Services Update
MOVE-IN PROCEDURES & DINING SERVICES UPDATE
Greetings from Housing and Dining Services,
Move-In is quickly approaching, and we're hard at work planning and preparing for your arrival. Please read this update carefully, as it contains instructions for your arrival as well as several important announcements regarding quarantine guidelines and a change to campus dining services for the fall semester.

Move-In Procedure Notes
The fall 2020 Move-In process is bit more complicated this year, but we look forward to working with you to get everyone settled in a timely fashion.

  • If you have yet to sign up for a Move-In time slot, please complete the check-in form as soon as possible. This is also where you can go to change your appointment time and print your confirmation for check-in.
  • To minimize the size of gatherings during Move-In, we ask that you limit the number of helpers you bring and encourage all to follow social distancing recommendations.
  • Upon arrival, you will have 30 minutes to unload your vehicle and relocate it to the approved parking area.
  • A limited number of carts and dollies will be available; please bring your own if possible.
  • Please be mindful of the number of items you bring on this day — help us get everyone in and settled as quickly as possible.
  • All students and individuals helping during Move-In are required to wear a mask per K-State and City of Manhattan guidelines. Please bring your own masks, as we are unable to provide them.
  • A dashboard permit was emailed to your K-State account when you signed up for a Move-In time. This permit can also be printed from the check-in form page.
  • To help you navigate the ongoing road construction near campus, a map with directions to buildings and building perimeter parking will be emailed to you shortly before Move-In begins.
  • If bringing a vehicle, purchase a residence hall parking pass from K-State Parking Services
  • If bringing a bicycle, complete the free registration form to receive your bicycle permit.
The residence hall contract cancellation deadline
has been extended to Aug. 7.
Updated Policies and Items to Bring
  • With the exception of family or friends helping during Move-In, guests and visitors will not be allowed until at least Aug. 31 to limit the number of people in the residence halls as the semester begins.
  • Community spaces such as study rooms, lobbies and kitchens will be available, but with limits to the number of people allowed at any given time.
  • Kitchen equipment, such as cookware and utensils, will not be available from hall front desks. Please bring your own (as well as the necessary cleaning materials) if you plan to use community kitchens.
  • Masks are required outside students' rooms. Please bring multiple masks with you and plan to clean them regularly.
Apply For Your K-State ID Card
All new incoming students need to apply for a K-State Wildcat ID card prior to your arrival on campus through the following online process:

  1. Visit the K-State ID Center webpage.
  2. Click on “New Student Wildcat ID.”
  3.  The ID Center will review your application and send an email to your K-State email address.

If ordered in advance, your new ID will be available for pickup at your residence hall check-in appointment. Please bring a valid state or federal-issued photo ID (i.e. driver’s license or passport) for verification.
Quarantine Requirement Update
Students coming from  high-risk areas  must self-quarantine for 14 days as mandated by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE). Individuals subject to this quarantine will not attend in-person university programs or activities, including classes.

  • If you have been directed by a health official to quarantine due to close contact with another person who has tested positive for COVID-19, please contact Housing and Dining Services at hdsmoves@k-state.edu to discuss your quarantine plans and how your move to the residence halls will be affected.
  • The KDHE-mandated 14-day self-quarantine for individuals coming from high-risk areas is dynamic based on current conditions, and does include some international countries, specific U.S. states, and cruise travel. The list is updated approximately every two weeks. We expect an update in the next few days. Once the update is released, Housing and Dining Services will contact students with home addresses from those locations to discuss quarantine needs. Please contact us at hdsmoves@k-state.edu if you have quarantine-related questions.
  • For more information about isolation and quarantine guidelines, please view K-State’s COVID-19 webpage.
Help Ensure a Safe Return to K-State

Important Dining Services Announcement
Due to supply chain issues and other concerns resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, Derby Dining Center will not open at the beginning of the fall 2020 semester as previously planned. To replace the services offered by Derby and continue to provide our residents with a range of quality dining options, we announce the following:

  • Van Zile Dining Center will now be open for the fall semester.
  • Additional service areas will be available to make obtaining a dining center meal faster and easier.
  • Additional meal options are being arranged.

This change is one of many that we — along with campus housing and dining officials across the country — have had to make in response to challenges presented by the pandemic.

Dining at K-State will look a bit different until it's safe to gather in large groups again, but we're still serving the same great, made-from-scratch meals we're known for in the university dining industry. Read the full dining services reopening plan .
