Dear Curry Students and Families,
As you know, we are delighted to be looking forward to a “new normal” for the Fall 2021 semester, with a return to full on-campus operations and activities, including in-person classes, student activities and support, and athletics here at Curry.
At all times over the past year, our first priority has been the health and safety of our students, our campus and our community. That will continue to be true for this coming fall and beyond. As we plan for a traditional 2021/2022 academic year, we are also planning how best to continue to keep Curry safe for all.
Science and research have determined that COVID-19 vaccines are highly effective in preventing virus infection in real-world conditions. We look forward to broadening immunity and increasingly positive public health as they have become widely available. All individuals aged 16 or older who live, work or study in Massachusetts are now eligible to receive them. Therefore, in the interest both of public health and the ongoing health of our campus community, along with an increasing number of colleges and universities nationwide, Curry College will require all enrolled students on both our Milton and Plymouth campuses to be fully vaccinated before arrival in the fall. This includes Continuing Education and graduate students, as well as undergraduate resident and commuter students.
We encourage you to get your vaccine as soon as possible. You may pre-register for an appointment at one of the Commonwealth’s mass vaccination sites or schedule an appointment through vaxfinder.mass.gov or MaCovidVaccines.com. All students must be fully vaccinated at least 14 days prior to returning to campus. To ensure this, you should plan to get your first vaccine shot before July 1.
Prior to arriving on campus this fall, you must submit proof of vaccination to the College via the CoVerified application. Instructions for how to upload your vaccination status may be found here. Please note that you should wait until you are fully vaccinated to upload your status. Incoming students should also enter their vaccination status on their Health Forms where indicated.
As with all College vaccine requirements, exemptions may be made for medical or religious reasons. Please contact Student Affairs with any questions or concerns regarding vaccinations.
In the coming weeks and months, the Return to Campus Institutional Committee will be continuing to plan for our Fall semester. As always, the College will communicate with you promptly as additional information about life on campus, including health and safety measures, becomes available. We wanted to share the vaccine requirement for students with you as soon as a decision was made this spring to allow families as much time as possible to plan this summer. At this time, College faculty and staff members are also strongly encouraged to become vaccinated as soon as possible.
We all look forward to gathering in person again in the Fall and seeing our beautiful campus once again full of vibrant activity when we welcome all of our students back to their Curry home. In the meantime, we wish them the best of luck as they complete the Spring semester, and we are excited to celebrate the Classes of 2020 and 2021 along with their families at our in-person Commencement ceremonies later this month.
