What started as a one-time event for Ramadan has now become a successful monthly meal project. Once a month a few of our staff members volunteer their time to bring the community together to cook for the love of food and people. Hours are spent prepping, cooking, packaging and distributing in huge quantities to make sure everyone gets their share. More than 150 meals were distributed in October. Now many of our community members await impatiently for their surprise dinner for their families. “As far as the food, I must say it was really good. My kids loved it and how different it tasted, compared to my cooking style. Even my granddaughter loved it and she is an extremely picky eater. This is a good way to get the community together and we hope Tyndale continues this. It’s really appreciated.” – Donna.
Together, staff and volunteers work hard to engage members of Little Burgundy to ensure that no one is forgotten and that everyone is looked out for. Our volunteers, some of them who had never volunteered before, look forward to getting together every month for a good cause.
This project also allowed our teens from the Youth Co-op who helped deliver the meals, to meet, exchange and engage with people from the community.
