the Farm at Hilltop, Inc.
Greetings!
Fall is here and there is still lots to see and learn at Hilltop Farm. Things are starting to slow down, yet there is much still happening.

2022 was another successful season in the Hilltop Farm Community Gardens. The garden plots will be cleaned up and put to rest until next spring. The Sunday morning yoga classes have been completed. The Barn hosted two beautiful wedding celebrations and a spectacular Oktoberfest. The Hilltop Farm Store and Creamery will be closing soon after a fantastic beginning. Hope that you were able to find a favorite flavor.
These are just a few of the offerings that will return in the spring.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." Margaret Mead
After 20 years, the community was able to celebrate the rehabilitation of the Barn. In late September FOFAH was finally granted a permit to invite guests into the Barn for events and programs. The result is a beautiful space, referred to as Connecticut’s Agricultural Cathedral.

This has only been accomplished because of the passion, dedication and support of a community.

Thank You to all our volunteers, sponsors, benefactors and donors. This milestone would never have been reached without you.

Then & Now: The Importance and Relevance of
Frederick Law Olmsted

Monday, November 7 at 6:30 at Kent Libray

Explore the relevancy of his design principles and our interest in public green spaces by looking at Olmsted parks, their current issues, the newest trends in public green spaces and their role in our lives. Suffield resident George Hendee was a client of Olmsted’s firm from 1928-1929.

Leslie Martino, landscape designer and historian will help us celebrate the bicentennial of the birth of Frederick Law Olmsted, considered the father of American landscape architecture. Olmsted’s designs provided an opportunity for people to interact with nature as well as other people. He understood the impact a designed green space had on people’s social, mental, and physical health when he began designing public parks.

This event is co-sponsored by the Suffield Garden Club, FOFAH and the Trees for Suffield Initiative. The program will be held on Monday, November 7 at 6:30pm in the Kent Memorial Library auditorium. Registration is through the Kent Memorial Library website.

Hilltop Dog Trials

The Ocean State Schutzhund Club held its first Hilltop Trial on October 8 and 9. We were blessed with perfect weather in a beautiful setting, and to top it off, all the dogs and their trainers passed.
OSSC is a full member club of the United Schutzhund Clubs of America. Founded in 1982, we are one of the oldest clubs in the New England Region. The primary goal the club is to promote and preserve the working ability of working line dogs. Photos thanks to OSSC.
