Demonstrating the Resilience to

Come Back Strong!

Once again, we see the remarkable accomplishments of the Beta Tau Chapter. For the first time since the on-set of the Covid-19 epidemic the membership is once again up over 100 and fully expects to fill the Shelter to capacity. Welcome to the 2023 pledge class!  Brothers at Beta Tau! A special thanks to the Executive Team, led by Adam Steinwold and the entire Recruitment Team.

The recent Alumni gathering was full of “good cheer” and reflected the hard work of the undergrads’ efforts in rush and the many Shelter improvements including fresh paint, reframed and refreshed historic chapter pictures of our previous Shelters at various locations in Lincoln and on campus, as well as, notable members and memorabilia. A special thanks to Chuck Allen for locating pictures of the previous Shelter and having the pictures magnificently framed. In the living room, new furniture and seating arrangements. The kitchen improvements are impressive and there’s more planned to be completed soon, including a very much needed cooler and a remodel of the cook’s office and storage areas.

The reunion of scores of alumni from over the past 40 years witnessed the presentation of alumni awards to Delta Tau Delta “Best Delt Booster” to Brian Hamilton and to Steve Fallon as the “Alumni of the Year” for all the “behind the scenes work” that he does and the recognition and awarding of the Ben Neff Award and Alan Emanuel Memorial Award.

Alumni involvement serves as the Chapter’s foundation and the representation of the many years of a legacy of excellence. Let’s renew our support of our undergraduate Brothers. We are all very proud of the achievements of the chapter: improving academics, an outstanding recruitment program and recently another Hugh Shields Award. The accomplishments of our young alumni are mounting. We can all remember when they were honing leadership skills as members of our Beta Tau Executive Team. It is awesome to witness their success and gives me great confidence in the future ahead.

Please consider the ongoing maintenance and support that is necessary to carry Beta Tau and our Shelter into the next few decades of Brotherhood and financially support the journey and those here now and those who come after.

Finally, we are all saddened by the recent passing of Brother Tom Wolf. A stalwart and committed Brother, alumni and firm and generous supporter giving time and treasure over a lifetime… a presence who is missed.

130 Years of Beta Tau Campaign

It's time to give back to Beta Tau. In 2024, Beta Tau will be celebrating 130 continuous years on the University of Nebraska campus. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the House Corporation has initiated a fundraising campaign to continue Shelter Improvements.

Click to Support

Focus is on the back of the kitchen, which was not updated during the 2012 remodel. This part of the Shelter has not changed since 1969 when it was built. We plan to build a walk-in cooler and a step-in freezer and replace all the wooden shelving in the pantry with commercial grade shelving. This will make the kitchen a much healthier place for food preparation for our members. See drawing below for details. The House Board hopes you will consider contributing to this campaign.

Consider Giving Today and Asking a Brother To Do The Same.

Please note we are not using any professional services to manage this fundraising effort. This effort is all being done by the House Board members: phone calls, emails, texts, etc. We desire every dime contributed to be used for the Shelter.  So, when contacted, please be appreciative of their efforts to save Beta Tau money.  We also need to raise funds to pay off our bank note, from the 2012 remodel. We are almost there, and we don’t have the debt other fraternities must deal with. But since we are close let’s finish off this bank note.

Four ways to Give:

1) Use the QR Code above to pay with a credit card;

2) Click this Link to be directed to our donation webpage;

3) Email Chuck Allen (Beta Tau, 1987) to receive a donation form;

4) Send a check made out to the Delta Tau Delta House Corporation:

PO Box 5951, Lincoln, NE 68505.

Undergraduates Receive Scholarships

Max Grucella Awarded Ben Neff Scholarship

Max Grucella (Beta Tau, 2026) was awarded the Ben Neff Scholarship. The $750 cash award was provided by the Delta Tau Delta Educational Foundation through an endowed gift by Ben Neff (Beta Tau, 1957). Max resides in the Shelter, achieves a 3.75 cumulative GPA, and currently serves on the chapter’s Executive Board. Max plans to work for the FBI or ATF after graduation. Congratulations Max!

John Strauss Awarded Alan Emanuel Scholarship

John Strauss (Beta Tau, 2026) was the inaugural recipient of the Alan Emanuel Scholarship. This $2,000 tuition credit was provided through a gift to the University of Nebraska Foundation by the Emanuel Family in memory of their son and brother Alan Emanuel (Beta Tau, 1988) who tragically passed away in 1989 shortly after his graduation from the University of Nebraska. John resides in the Shelter and achieves a 3.83 cumulative GPA. John plans to attend law school after graduation.

In responding to an essay question asking to describe what Delta Tau Delta means to him and his favorite moments, John stated:

My favorite moments in Delt have included emotional conversations that have foreshadowed deep relationships with my brothers. My first complex conversation with a brother occurred before I pledged. We elaborated on how we want to be the best men we can be. We want to be there for our mothers, wives, children, etc. We want to be the best we can be for each other’s families.” -John Strauss (Beta Tau, 2026), inaugural recipient of the Alan Emanuel Scholarship.
