Fall 2023 Tri-Council Meeting

On October 18, 2023, the Deans and Directors of the Baccalaureate and Higher, the Associate, and the Diploma schools of nursing met to navigate the lack of clinical site placements for institutions.

Charles Larobis and Andrew Aronson from the Health Care Association of NJ were present to discuss how long term care facilities can help fill this gap. There were a number of regional Directors of Nursing present who spoke to the acuity of cases, accessibility throughout the state, and possibility of identifying a nurse champion to accommodate nursing students. The conversation between attendees not only gave a fresh perspective of what LTC sites have to offer, but the group walked away with actionable next steps. NJAC is excited for the re-imagined academic - clinical partnerships that has the potential to expand clinical placement sites for nursing students to experience high-acuity, complex, and variety of patient cases. They are slated to meet next in April, 2024.

Nursing Student Recruitment Toolkit 2023

The education workgroup also released a recruitment toolkit for nursing programs to address the DE&I efforts in drawing new nursing students into their program. The toolkit also speaks to exploring each institution's Education Opportunity Fund to support socioeconomically disadvantaged students succeed in nursing programs. This toolkit can be found on the NJCCN website or by clicking below.
