Healthy communities require safe streets and sidewalks, inclusive gathering places and green spaces for everyone to enjoy, and easy access to medical services and fresh food. These things can be challenging for residents in small towns and rural communities.
Suzanne Kelley from the VT Department of Health and Richard Amore from the VT Department of Housing and Community Development are co-hosting a podcast, Small Towns, Healthy Places, where they explore the intersection between health equity and community design in Vermont. They interview Vermont state partners, local leaders, and community members about how they have created vibrant places that center equity and support health and wellness. If you’re passionate about public health, improving the built environment, or placemaking, check out this podcast here or wherever you listen to podcasts.
