Board bio - Thomas Stromme, RRMEA treasurer | |
Where do you work? What do you do? I work as a VP, Commercial Lender at First Western Bank & Trust in Fargo, ND. First Western Bank & Trust is a family-owned, full-service, independent community bank serving customers throughout central and eastern North Dakota, as well as western and central Minnesota.
Education/training? I am a graduate of the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND, and have worked in banking for over 8 years.
What was your first job? My first job was a shelf stocker at our local Target. I loved working in the different departments and seeing all of my friends stop in to shop.
Hometown? I grew up in Bismarck, ND.
Family? My wife Jadin and I have been married for nearly four years, and are expecting our first baby this fall. We’re so excited for this next chapter, and have been busy preparing for his arrival.
Pets? I have 2 dogs, Bode (a Bernedoodle) and Piper (a cockapoo).
Favorite book or author? I recently re-read Strong Towns by Charles Marohn (out of Brainerd, MN) and I was fascinated by the changes in American development, and how these changes impact city spending, citizen lifestyles, and even business investment. Fargo has seen strong investment in our downtown for nearly 20 years now, with many of the Marohn’s principles reflected in its urban designed.
Favorite food? I have a big sweet tooth, probably a batch of my wife’s scotcheroos!
Do you have any hobbies, play any sports, etc.? I am an avid runner, but also enjoy cycling and walking my dogs, so I try and stay active. I also enjoy reading about the history of my community and learning about the entrepreneurs and leaders who formed Fargo into the city it is today.
