Uniting the twin missions of education and St. John’s University’s

Vincentian charism

We were excited to see the twin missions of education and St. John’s University’s Vincentian charism united at a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the renovated first floor of Sullivan Hall. The first floor is now home to The School of Education Recruitment Center and to the Office of University Mission, Campus Ministry, and the Vincentian Institute for Social Action (VISA).

The School of Education

Recruitment Center

The new recruitment center, located on the first floor of Sullivan Hall, serves as a hub for undergraduate students to seek advisement or a place to bring their questions or concerns. The traffic within the recruitment center is like a revolving door as students seek advisement for the Spring/Winter 2024 semester and clearance for graduation in January 2024.

The convenience and ambiance of this new space are both energizing and conducive to student success. Advisor (Bernadette Zacharuk) and Interim Advisor (Lily Scarabino) are committed to the task at hand. They undertake their tasks with commitment, respect, and service for our students. See our video below for some of the highlights.

Conference Focuses on

Mental Health

and the Educator

Participants at the Dean's Advisory Board Professional Development Conference on Mental Health and the Educator were challenged to do something “scary” each day, something that made them uncomfortable in their work and their personal life. Participants reported that they had an eye-opening experience that made them think in new ways about teaching their students and about caring for themselves. The conference was a huge success!
