Fall 2024 Beginning Pottery and Beginning Pottery Part 2 class registration will open on Monday, August 12, 2024 at Noon. The cost of classes is $550 per student. This cost includes a $50 refundable key deposit which will provide 24-hour open studio access. Classes are limited to 9 students and will fill quickly. Our classes have been filling in less than 10 minutes (sometime less than 5). See below for a list of what classes will be available.

Please note, several of our classes are scheduled for longer than 10 weeks to accommodate instructor vacations. You will receive 10 weeks of instruction, but there may be independent work weeks if your instructor is out.

Beginning Pottery - 10 weeks - $550

• Tuesday, Sept 10 - Nov 19 from 6 - 8:30 p.m. with Evan*
• Wednesday, Sept 11 - Nov 13 from 6 - 8:30 p.m. with Ralph
• Thursday, Sept 19 - Dec 05 from 6 - 8:30 p.m. with Melissa**

Beginning Pottery classes are for those who have never worked on a pottery wheel or who just want to brush up on their skills. Students who know the basics but prefer to continue working with an instructor are also welcome.

This 10-week class meets once a week for 2½ hours to teach the basics of wheel thrown pottery: wedging, centering, pulling, trimming, glazing, and basic studio etiquette. We will also cover basic hand-building instruction.

* Please note this class is scheduled for 11 weeks as there will be no class on Tuesday, Sept 24 (Evan is out that week). Students will be able to practice independently, and class will resume the following week.

** Please note this class is scheduled for 12 weeks as there will be no class on Thursday, Oct 10 (Melissa is getting married). Students will be able to practice independently, and class will resume the following week. Fired Up Studios will also be closed on Thur, Nov 28 for Thanksgiving.

Beginning Pottery Part 2 - 10 weeks - $550

If you know how to throw a bowl and a cylinder and are ready to move beyond the basics, Beginning Pottery Part 2 is for you. If you have never had a pottery class, please sign up for one of our other Beginning Pottery classes. This class does assume that you have done some pottery before and know the basics.

The class will meet once a week for 2½ hours. Students will be encouraged to come to class with a self-proposed project to work on over the course of 10 weeks. The instructor will provide demonstrations of somewhat more advanced ideas based on the work students are interested in making.

* Please note this class is scheduled for 11 weeks. There will be no class on Thursday, Nov 28 as Fired Up Studios will be closed for Thanksgiving.
