Good things to know...

Welcoming our New RSS Employees!

Qimalleq Teter

Qimalleq Teter is Yup'ik and Cup'ik from St. Mary's, with family ties to Chevak, Emmonak, Bethel, and Minto. They are a proud alum of Mt. Edgecumbe High School and the University of Alaska Fairbanks with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies, combining Education and Alaska Native Studies. Qimalleq has taught the Alaska Native Dance class for the College of Indigenous Studies since 2022 and has a strong passion for sharing and learning cultural knowledge. They love beading, traditional drumming and dancing, being on the land, and spending time with their family.

Siqiñiq Maupin

My name is Siqiñiq Maupin and I am the Indigenous Wellness Advocate with Rural Student Services. I am Iñupiaq with family from Utqiaġvik, where I was born, and Nuiqsut. I live in Fairbanks where I spent most of my life, with my two kids and three dogs I love dearly.

I have held a number of roles in the nonprofit world, from community organizer, Arctic Coordinator, to Executive Director, all in social and environmental justice. I have taken a step back from that work to focus on my passion, healing and wellness. I look forward to supporting other Indigenous and Alaska Native Peoples who are trying to learn, grow, and heal with their communities.
