Hurricane Helene relief

As everyone has heard through various news sources, our neighbors in East Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida suffered great loss and widespread devastation from Hurricane Helene.

The congregation mailed a contribution to the Hurricane Helene disaster relief fund through Episcopal Relief and Development.

We encourage everyone to prayerfully consider a personal gift or to seek other resources to help our neighbors in distress.

Join also in prayer:

"God of the present moment, God who in Jesus stills the storm and soothes the frantic heart; bring hope and courage to all as we wait in uncertainty. Bring hope and peace with whatever lies ahead. Bring us courage to endure what cannot be avoided. For your will is health and wholeness; you are God, and we need you. Amen."

October 4: Blessing of the Animals

Weather permitting, St. Agnes' will hold a Day of St. Francis Blessing of the Animals on Friday, October 4th, 5 p.m. on the church lawn.

This will be a short prayer service and each pet owner will receive a St. Francis/St. Anthony pendant. We will also receive an offering to benefit Franklin County Animal Harbor.

We ask that all pets be on a leash or in a carrier and be under the safe control of their owners at all times.

"Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures."

November 3: Fall Favorites Luncheon

On Sunday, November 3rd, (the day we "fall back" one hour!), St. Agnes' will hold a church-wide luncheon with "Fall Favorites".

We invite everyone to bring a favorite dish to share and enjoy that reminds you of the season.

The parish hall will also be decorated in fall colors to make this a special time together.

This is also the perfect occasion to invite a friend of neighbor to join us for worship and for the meal and fellowship.

Daylight Savings Time ends on Sunday, November 3rd..

So, remember on Saturday night, November 2nd, to set your home clocks back one hour at bed time.

Computer clocks and cellphone clocks will re-set automatically.

Updates from our extended church family

Kathleen Black is continuing her journey towards recovery and was able to attend two Sunday services in September. Thanks be to God! We pray that her strength continues to grow each day!

Liam Dervin had a difficult week in late September with a Covid-related sickness. He is resting and recovering at home.

Jarod spoke on the phone with Nancy Glenn. Her living arrangement in Florida is working out well for her and she sends her love and prayers to all of us at St. Agnes'!

Laura Pearson McDonald had two weeks of illness in September requiring a brief hospitalization. Laura is one the road to recovery and asks for our continuing prayers. Laura and Bob also report that they will soon relocate to a new home in Lansing, Michigan. We hope they will have a pleasant and successful move!

Patsy Rigsby, a dear friend and neighbor to the Pearson family, had some challenging days with her health in September. Please keep her in your prayers as she tries to recover.

Pat Underwood fell ill during the month of September and spent some time in the hospital. Jarod spoke with her daughter-in-law who reported that she is struggling to maintain her strength and appetite. Hopefully she will be referred to an inpatient rehabilitation center to help regain strength and mobility. Pat's entire family asks for our continuing prayers at this time.
