Fall 2025

Dear MTL Community,

It’s been great seeing many of you back on campus as summer comes to an end and the new academic year begins! There's a renewed energy in the air, and we’re excited for everything the upcoming semester has in store. In this edition, you’ll find important updates, upcoming events, and resources to help you kick off the year strong.

If you haven't already, make sure to register for the MIT Deep Tech Career Fair, coming up on September 18th from 5-7pm in the Stata Center. This is your opportunity to explore career and internship opportunities at leading global companies in electronics, quantum, computing, materials and other deep-tech industries.  Also, if you are a first-year or sophomore student, you should not miss the info session for the MTL Northeast Microelectronics Internship Program (NIMP). It is happening from 4 to 5pm on Sept. 18th at the Kiva Conference Room in Stata (32-G449).

Be sure to check out the MTL Seminar Series lineup for the fall semester. The first seminar is TODAY, September 17th, with speaker Jean Anne Incorvia from The University of Texas at Austin.

I’m thrilled to announce the release of the 2025 Microsystems Annual Research Report!

This year, we received over 200 abstract submissions — a record-breaking number that highlights the incredible depth and diversity of research taking place across the MTL and MIT.nano communities. Thank you to everyone who contributed their work, time, and energy to make this report a success.

The MTL Report to the President for the 2024-2025 academic year has just been published. This report is a great way to review all of the research, events, industry engagements and activities MTL has participated in throughout the past year.

Looking ahead — save the date! The MTL Microsystems Annual Research Conference (MARC2026) will take place on January 27–28, 2026.

A huge congratulations to Stella Lessler and Hyeonseok Kim, our MARC2026 Co-Chairs! I'm excited to collaborate and work with Stella and Hyeonseok, along with the full planning committee, as we begin preparing for another fantastic event. Stay tuned for more updates!

Wishing you all a fantastic fall semester!
