Hello

FALL

Even though the leaves are (sort of) changing and it's starting to get (a little bit) cooler, the Encino Neighborhood Council hasn't slowed down advocating for our community! Just last week, ENC President Roy Nwiasser sent out a detailed update of the progress the new board has made in two short months!

Below, check out what the ENC has been up to this Fall, as well as information on activities you can join around town.

TOWN HALL MEETINGS, WAYS TO GET INVOLVED & MORE

In August and September, ENC brought the community, elected leaders, and stakeholders together to address tough issues impacting Encino residents.

We heard from so many Encino-ians, and we are listening; the city of LA is listening. Changes are happening!

In September, over 400 trees and 32 acres of heavy brush were cleared from the Sepulveda Basin. The Army Corps of Engineers will be arriving this month to continue the cleanup along the LA River. We are making progress with the Oak Tree Inn negotiations, and Encino has seen a dramatic reduction in burglaries with the increased police patrols.

Our committees-- Public Safety, Parks, Outreach, Youth, and more-- remain open to every stakeholder who wants to lend a hand, share an idea, or raise a concern.

Encino's Future is formed by the people who show up, listen, and care. If you have been wondering how to get involved, now is the time! Please consider joining us on the ENC. Fill out the committee interest form here today.

Our next general board meeting is on 10/22 at 7 pm. To join, visit our ENC Calendar, click the meeting you are interested in, and access the agenda and link (posted 72 hours in advance).

However you choose to participate, your presence makes us stronger.

FALL MOVIE NIGHT BRINGS ENCINO RESIDENTS TOGETHER

Thank you to everyone who attended the ENC Movie Night screening of E.T.! It was exciting to see so many, 500 by some counts, friends and neighbors gathered under the stars in Encino Park.

We want your feedback. Please take the Movie Night Survey so we can continue to grow and host events that resonate with the community

New Encino Neighborhood Council SWAG was distributed at the event, and we want to see where your I (heart) Encino stickers ended up: your favorite water bottle, computer, luggage, or maybe even your bike. Take a pic and tag ENC's Instagram @encinoneighborhoodcouncil. Let's show our LOVE for Encino all over the SFV.

FIRE SEASON IS HERE

Being prepared is your best defense:

  • Trim overgrown bushes and trees to create a defensible space around your home. Vegetation management is a year-round responsibility. Clear Early. Clear Often.
  • Have a Go-Bag ready with emergency supplies, medicines, chargers, and copies of important documents in case you are in a situation where you need to evacuate.
  • Test smoke detectors and change batteries. Shake fire extinguishers and check expiration dates.

If your home has an easement adjacent to the property with a Caltrans Right-of-way or if you see dense brush along the freeway, submit a Caltrans Customer Service Repair Request.

Wildfires are scary and unpredictable. Being prepared and alert will help keep us safe in the event of an emergency.
