Happy fall, neighbor! !

Happy Halloween! I'm thrilled to present the latest edition of the Providence District Arts Special, brimming with exciting art and holiday events to elevate your fall the next upcoming weeks. Within this edition of Providence—A Work of heART, you'll discover a plethora of performances by local talents and various artistic opportunities.

I love sharing all the wonderful art events Providence has to offer and will continue to share performances on a quarterly basis. If you come across events that I may have missed or you'd like to see included going forward, please don't hesitate to let my office know. Your input is invaluable. I encourage you to embrace these wonderful opportunities and show your support.

Arts Fairfax

Saturday, Nov. 4, 1:30PM - 4:00 PM

Hosted by ArtsFairfax and the Fairfax Poet Laureate, this “Poetry in the Parks” event will be a generative writing workshop of poetry. This event will begin with a naturalist guided tour of the park and will conclude at the Visitor’s Center where attendees will be provided with poetry examples, writing prompts, and an opportunity to share their poetry inspired by the adventures of the day.

This Christmas, Dash decides it’s his turn to lead Santa’s sleigh, and the whole North Pole is transfixed as he challenges Rudy for the honor. A family-friendly, original musical written by Providence Players members.

Set on the American frontier, this moving musical tells the story of a group of women who come together to create a quilt that reflects their shared history, struggles, and triumphs. The story blends a series of interrelated scenes into a rich mosaic which captures the sweep and beauty, the terror and joy, the harsh challenge and abiding rewards of frontier life.

Creative Cauldron tops off their holiday celebration every year with this special Holiday Cabaret Series. Enjoy some of Creative Cauldron’s favorite performers, as well as some talented newcomers.

Shipgarten, the top Tysons Corner Restaurant for families, is hosting their "Encanto for Kids and Families Festival" on Sunday, Nov. 5th from 12:00PM to 6:00PM! Bring the whole family for an unforgettable experience meeting friendly, furry creatures along with face painting and arts & crafts kids can enjoy.

The Gala provides a retrospective on the past 15 years of creating a vibrant, exciting arts community in the former Lorton prison. In keeping with the engaging theme, participants will be invited to participate in evening-gown-friendly art activations, chat with artists, enjoy dinner, live music, dancing, and explore the wonderful treasures in our silent auction.

Featured entertainment by The Johnny Artis Band who are well known in the Mid-Atlantic region for their fun-loving brand of R&B and Rock & Roll.
