John Grogan

The Americans on D-Day and in Normandy: Rare Photographs from Wartime Archives is an excellent introduction to D-Day using photographs and maps from WWII along with some contemporary photos that show how landscapes and street scenes have or have not changed over the decades since Operation Overlord, the code name of the invasion.

Dr. Brooke Blades is an archaeologist and historian whose research has included examinations of sites form Second World War in France, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg. An interest in Normandy first emerged during a visit in 1986 and has expanded greatly beyond an initial focus on documenting the landscape of Omaha Beach. He has a sequel to the first title coming this Fall: The Americans from Normandy to the German Border: August to mid-December 1944.
