The Act of Stewardship
Dedication Sunday is this Sunday!
Stewardship is one actionable way we express God’s grace in our lives and gratitude for the fellowship and outreach of our church.
| | |
Each year we ask for stewardship pledges in the fall so that a working budget can be formed for the coming year. I ask you to consider a meaningful pledge for 2027 and respond promptly. We will dedicate pledges in worship this Sunday, October 4. I hope you will respond to God’s grace with graciousness remembering that faithful stewardship is “always about more than just money, but never less than that.”
-Stephanie November, 2027 Stewardship Campaign Chair
| | Please note that all new pledges will be matched by a special church donor. | |

Fall Day of Service Is This Saturday!
This Saturday, October 3, people of all ages and abilities can find projects to join in as we serve our local and global partners. Projects will take place both at the church and out in the community. We will begin the morning with breakfast and prayer at 8:30 a.m. in Frampton Fellowship Hall before dispersing to our various worksites. Most projects will wrap up by noon (if not sooner). Sign-ups and project details can be found at scapc.org/volunteer. You can also sign up following worship in Frampton Fellowship Hall this Sunday. Email Jonell Quinton at missjonell@hotmail.com with any questions.

An Outpouring of Love at Steven's 40th Anniversary
On Sunday, we celebrated Steven Blackmon's 40th Anniversary of ministry as our Director of Music and Organist with special worship music followed by an entertaining and moving reception with loved ones from our community and beyond! See Gillian Egan's investigative documentary for a secret view into the life of our talented, yet elusive, director:

Welcome Back, Harry!
This week, we welcome back the Rev. Dr. Harry Barrow who will serve as our guest pastor through October 18 while Chris Currie leads a pilgrimage of church members to cathedrals and communities of faith in England and Scotland, October 5-13. Harry served for 31 years at Newman Presbyterian Church in Georgia, and you may remember that he served as our interim pastor in the summer of 2021. Thank you, Harry, and welcome back!

Congregational Care Pantry Drive
Help us stock our freezer with meals for those in our congregation needing some extra care! Empty containers are available in the church office. Fill the container with your favorite casserole or soup during the week, then return your filled container to the church freezer on a weekday or this Sunday, October 4. Please clearly label your container with its contents and date.

Home Communion
The Lord’s Table extends beyond the sanctuary. Next week, we will bring Communion to members of our congregation who cannot join us in worship. In this way, we share in the life of the church and remember that we belong to one another. If you would like to receive Home Communion, or know someone who might welcome a visit, please email Miriam Hollar at miriam@scapc.org.

Annual Blessing of the Pets
The Worship and Music committee invites pets and families to join us on Sunday, October 11 at 6 p.m. in the Land Building yard for a Blessing of the Pets. Please bring your pets appropriately leashed or contained, or a photo of pets who cannot travel with you, as well as a chair for their humans. There will be a brief service and individual blessing for each pet with light refreshments for humans and animals to follow. Please consider a donation of pet food items or gently-used pet supplies (leashes, bowls, carriers, etc) to support pets that are still searching for their “fur-ever” homes. A pet carrier will be placed at the Chapel entry for those who may choose to donate in advance.

Funeral Ushers Needed
When families gather at the church for a funeral or memorial service, a kind welcome can make a difficult day easier. We are looking for volunteers to serve as ushers: to greet guests, to help them find their way, and to offer a calm, caring presence. The commitment is usually about two hours. If you would be willing to help when your schedule allows, please email Miriam Hollar at miriam@scapc.org.

Advent Devotion Writers Sought

The 2026 Adent theme is Visions, Dreams, Prophecies, and Exaltations. Art this year for the devotional will be made in a collage class led by Caitlin Wallace-Rowland and Harriet Riley. Mo-Ranch Disaster Recovery Trip
November 4-8
Assisting communities in need following natural disasters has long been central to our church’s mission and identity. From Super Storm Sandy to Nashville and western North Carolina flooding and well beyond, SCAPC members have never failed to answer the call from communities in need. Now, SCAPC’s Disaster Recovery Team is planning a November 4-8 return trip to Mo-Ranch to help with recovery efforts underway in the Texas Hill Country in response to the latest devastating floods to impact that area.
Our Disaster Recovery Team welcomes all those interested in helping Mo-Ranch on its “long road to recovery”! Historically, these trips have provided members of our congregation with intensely rewarding bonding experiences, while serving others as they have served us in the past. Courtney Bell and Matt McCann will lead this team. Please let us know of your interest by filling out this form. We want you to join us.
