ONTARIO FALL ECONOMIC STATEMENT UPDATES

On October 30, 2024, there was a Deputy Minister of Finance meeting to discuss the Fall Economic Statement (FES), Building Ontario For You. The confidential briefing was attended by President Alinda Dekker. Below are some key updates:.

Protecting Ontario Consumers - To bolster public confidence, protect depositors’ assets, and help ensure broader market stability, the government is proposing amendments to the Credit Union and Caisses Populaires Act, 2020 that would provide FSRA with enhanced investigative and resolution tools to support effective oversight of credit unions.

Information Sharing - A key area of focus that is being prioritized by the government to undertake work with MPAC, municipalities, and other stakeholders to enhance information sharing and develop new digital solutions. This work includes:

  • Making assessment roll information available to the public through a centralized electronic platform
  • Authorizing digital delivery of property assessment notices

MPAC UPDATES

  • MPAC continues to work on enforcing its rights under the Propertyline Terms and Conditions.
  • About 95 letters were sent to appraisers within the past week notifying them that their access will be cut off unless they respond to MPAC’s request. Access can be reinstated if the appraiser responds to their request satisfactorily.

If you have any questions, please contact MPAC directly.

PROPTX UPDATES

  • If you have been a customer of TRREB as an appraiser, you would have signed an Appraiser Access Agreement at some point in the past. Recently, TRREB emailed all of its appraiser clients that they have assigned their rights to PropTx. If you are unsure what this means for you, please contact PropTx directly for clarification.
  • The new PropTx Appraiser Access Agreement provides a 3-year search history (previously a 2-year search history). This is an improvement however, we understand your need for a full search history.  We will continue to advocate on your behalf for this.
  • We have heard from several AIC-ON members, who have heard from different real estate boards that AIC-ON candidates now have access to PropTx. If you are affected by this, we suggest you contact PropTx directly to obtain access. We are continuing to monitor this situation and appreciate hearing from you about your experience. Email us at info@aicontario.ca.
